You're Over Lyrics

Harmless?
Don't make me laugh
Reduce yourself to a poisoned mess
It's so amazing
What passes for cool these days
Another trend?
Or just a wish
So when did it come down to this
Fashion victim
Takes on a whole new meaning
"It's just for fun..."
Hey, I'm sure it is
So tell me is that fun
Convulsing on the door
Open your eyes
You're walking the path to your self destruction
The higher you fly, the further you fall
Harmless?
Don't make me laugh
I wish I had the strength
To tear your eyelids off
You fool
You fucking fall
It's hard to fly, with wings of stone
So hard to fly, with wings of stone

I agree with triumph, but I think the particular trend he talks about is drug use, maybe supposedly "harmless" party drugs like ecstasy or speed that are becoming trendy...

"Reduce yourself to a poisoned mess"

"So tell me is that fun Convulsing on the floor*"

@Ruins I think the last lines definitely reinforce that it is drugs (Byron Bay, where the band is from has a strong drug culture especially party drugs). Why drugs?? "wings of stone" ... stoned!

This song is about how in the town of Byron Bay, at one point in time, it was fine and normal to overdose on shit, and no one really cared. It was just a trend, and people didn't see anything wrong with it. Winston was sick of seeing this happen so it seems like he wrote a song about his view on it. I remember reading an interview where Winston breifly explained it. So yeah, i love him and his views and his way of expressing them.

I have to agree with @Mike [=P and @Ruins regarding their interpretations.

I definitely think it is talking about not doing drugs (social / party ones) just because others do it ... it doesn't make you cool, and it is a weakness.

Lines such as "a poisoned mess", "convulsing on floor", "self destruction", "harmless?", "wings of stone" all suggests drugs to me. The last lines use "stone" as a pun in my opinion (that is, they are 'stoned' so therefore can't be the best they can be ... fly)

My Interpretation

it's about jumping on the bandwagon and falling for trends, and how you can't be yourself when you're acting like someone you're not.
