I never knew that I was dealing with a graduate
With a major in defensive and a minor in excuses
It's not that hard to say you're wrong, admit oh, go on, go on

You know I wouldn't want to make you feel worse than you should
But if you were me you'd do the same (you know you would, you know you would)
It's not that hard to say you're wrong, admit oh, go on, go on

It'd mean everything just to hear you say to me
That I was right and you were wrong, it's not that hard, go on, go on
It'd mean everything just to hear you say to me
That I was right and you were wrong, it's not that hard, go on, go on

I know you know it's all your fault and I should let this go
But I need to hear you say it love
(it's principle, it's principle)
It's not that hard to say you're wrong, admit it oh, go on, go on

It'd mean everything just to hear you say to me
That I was right and you were wrong, it's not that hard, go on, go on
It'd mean everything just to hear you say to me
I was right and you were wrong, it's not that hard, go on, go on

That I was right and you were wrong, go on, go on (go on, go on)

It would mean everything
(but you're so smart with those clever eyes)
So I tell you that I love you, and blow you a kiss
(but until you say you're sorry, well that's all you're gonna get)
Oh, that's all you gonna get, oh...

oh oh oh...(x2)

It'd mean everything just to hear you say to me
That I was right and you were wrong, it's not that hard, go on, go on
It'd mean everything just to hear you say to me
That I was right and you were wrong, it's not that hard, go on, go on

That I was right and you were wrong, it's no that hard, go on, go on

I love this song. This song is about her ex boyfriend and she is telling him that she was right and he was wrong and he needs to admit it.

I don't think she is talking to her "EX" boyfriend. I think its her current love. But he is one of those people that has to be right all the time. and she is right and he knows it, so she is rubbing his nose in it a little.

Yeah, feels like she's dealing with someone who always likes to think they're right and all she wants is to hear the person admit that they're wrong just for once.

"I never knew that I was dealing with a graduate With a major in defensive and a minor in excuses" I love those lines, they're so witty, creative and clever.

Love this song :D Its obviosuly about a fight in a relationship, they've not broken up, but she's still annoyed "So I tell you that I love you and blow you a kiss But until you say you're sorry, well that's all you're gonna get" She needs to hear him admit it was his fault, cause even though she knows he knows, he's not said it outloud, and she needs him to for closure. I also get the feeling he doesnt ever admit hes wrong "I never knew that I was dealing with a graduate With a major in defensive and a minor in excuses" This shows he'sgood at it. I love that bit, i agree with stagnate, very witty (:

I agree, I mean it's a very easy song to understand. He thinks he is always right, so she is saying if he could just once admit that she was right he would notice it's not that hard, And It doesn't bust your ego that much.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Cajun Girl
Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”
