I will have sons and daughters
and I will say
here are your grandchildren
and you will see them
and I will say
here are your grandchildren
and you will see them

Every song on "Young Prayer" works together. It's called a concept album [me being a smart ass]. These songs are all very Castillian in concept and tone [probably influenced by his Portuguese inhabitance]. It was recorded in his childhood home with a simple recording set-up. Throughout the album he only uses an acoustic guitar and an amorphous vocal lament to his father. I've never heard an album so purely introspective and beautifully personal like this. I know that sounds cliched but when you think about it, no one has ever created an album about death like this. It's almost like a ritual about the passge into death. This is true soul music. Raw and without ostentatious display. A mourning testament to the beauty of the human spirit. I fucking love Panda Bear.
so so sad, especially considering the context in which it was written
all the lyrics on this album are so simple, but they're somehow even more heartbreaking than anything I've ever read.
Everyone has that one cliche stupid song that makes them cry. But this one, it really makes me choke up. That's the closest I've ever come to crying from a song.
I believe it's:
I will have sons and daughters (where are you?)
It's actually the part of the line where he says "here are your", as in, "here are you grandchildren. It def. sounds like he might be asking "where are you?" but in actuality it is "here are your..."
