This Is Real Life (Untitled Demo) Lyrics
Choices and the voices of their lying lips
Riding in the backseat of your closet ship
Feeding while they're eating all our innocence
And I know that this is real life
In the backyard, on the loveseat
With the TV in the cellar
And I know that this is real life
And I am talking to the sofa in the soda machine
And there's a 7-Up logic that I've never seen, though
Won't you let me in on your secret
In the summer
Because we're playing fortune teller
I got a reason that I'm giving up
Everything that I ever owned or I ever done
Or you ever gave me
You want another reason, oh
I don't know my friends
You want another meaning, oh
I don't know the reason
Look at our creation, oh
This, too, bore aching then
You want another way back home
I don't know direction
You want to know a secret?
You're my favorite friend
You want to see me bleeding now?
I'm calling this an end
And you don't do what you want to
And they try to control you
Why don't you laugh in my face again?
You know that I haven't got enough friends
Why don't you spit in my tears again?
You know that this bemeans my end
Riding in the backseat of your closet ship
Feeding while they're eating all our innocence
In the backyard, on the loveseat
With the TV in the cellar
And I am talking to the sofa in the soda machine
And there's a 7-Up logic that I've never seen, though
In the summer

I don't know where I got this song. I don't think it was on Zero Methos. It sounds pretty old, I'd say it dates back to before This Is A Long Drive With Someone With Nothing To Think About but after Sad Sappy Sucker. It really doesn't have a title, so I just gave it one from the lyrics. I think I got the lyrics pretty well (there's only a few lines I wasn't sure on), but I'd appreciate any corrections.
If anyone wants the song, email me at ximvicious@gmail.com
Heh, that'd help me, too. The quality's a bit off, so it pays to mess around with audio enhancers to get the perfect sound. Well, all that aside, this song is incredible. Very Mousey. If you like their pre-Moon & Antarctica stuff, you'd probably like this. Honestly, this is probably my favorite Modest Mouse song right now. It really reminds me of Trailer Trash.. I kind of think of it as a prelude to that.
Only Isaac Brock can write lyrics like this.
Great lyrics.. I would like to have this song but you never seem to answer my mail?
Erg.. I hardly ever check my email. If anyone I sent the song would be willing to help distribute or host it, post here. That would really help.
If you'd email it to me I'd be glad to distribute it. (AcM19891@aol.com)
Hey, in case you see this before my email, thanks for sending it to me, but my AOL won't open it for whatever reason, so I figured why not use the same email as you, and opened chase.mcmullen@gmail.com. Try that if you don't mind.
I have the song now everyone, so if anyone wantsit, just email me, thanks to Xim he found it originally.
yeah good job Xim he gave it to me too so if anyone needs it email me red_tape@sbcglobal.net this song is amazing i cant get enough of it, it reminds me of just being young how he just randomli says things like closet ship
where he says Inner chance to me it sounds like dinner strips and where he put theres a seven up logic i never seen it sounds to me like their just giving off logic that i never seen

Thanks for the song Xim. I wish there were more people who would listen to this, it might give us a better insight to these vague lyrics. I think the only thing I can say for sure is that it is about a conflict between good friends.
I think age seems to play an important role here. At times he sounds really innocent, and at other times he provides some psychadellic thought pattern ("And I am talking to the sofa in the soda machine"). Maybe he is showing the difference between innocence and growing up because he precedes the soda machine line with "This is real life". Real life being compared with psychoactive thought. It's really up to speculation as far as I can see.
I very much agree with the guys above me... If you are reading this and don't have this song, you should email one of us [I'm ste_mann (at) hotmail (dot) com]. This must be pretty rare, if it's not even on zero methos. It sounds a little like a disjointed Birds vs. Worms; saying some random poetry over the music.
Brings a whole new meaning to the term 'lo-fi'.
