Great Divide Lyrics
The earth is shaking under siege
Every breath we'll meet it's fate
Still we hunger for a moment of freedom
Even though the hour is late
I find hope and it gives me rest
I find hope in a beating chest
I find hope in what eyes don't see
I find hope in your hate for me
Have not fear when waters rise
We can conquer this great divide
This great divide
When every eye is on the fortune
It can only breed contempt
They blood is thicker than oceans
Still we box our brothers in
I find hope and it gives me rest
I find hope in a beating chest
I find hope in what eyes don't see
I find hope in your hate for me
Have not fear when waters rise
We can conquer this great divide
And we're gone, and we're gone, and we're gone
And we're holding on, and we're holding on, and we're holding on
I find hope and it gives me rest
I find hope in a beating chest
I find hope in what eyes don't see
I find hope in your hate for me
Have not fear, have no fear, have no fear
Have no fear when waters rise,
we can conquer this great divide
(In the background, the choir goes: "ngi ne themba", that means "I find hope)
Every breath we'll meet it's fate
Still we hunger for a moment of freedom
Even though the hour is late
I find hope in a beating chest
I find hope in what eyes don't see
I find hope in your hate for me
We can conquer this great divide
It can only breed contempt
They blood is thicker than oceans
Still we box our brothers in
I find hope in a beating chest
I find hope in what eyes don't see
I find hope in your hate for me
We can conquer this great divide
And we're holding on, and we're holding on, and we're holding on
I find hope in a beating chest
I find hope in what eyes don't see
I find hope in your hate for me
Have no fear when waters rise,
we can conquer this great divide

This song is a great motivator for life. It really is. Like the lyrics say, it's about finding hope and being driven to keep going. This song has probably more meaning to me than any other song by Hanson ever written, and I have been a fan since '97.
I like this song :) It's very powerful
I think that everyone can relate to this song in a way. I think that this song is about getting past a difficulty that arises.
I like how, in the video, they show the situations in Africa. We could solve a lot of problems if we just went over there (and if we stayed here) and helped out those who don't have as much as we do.
great divide talks about well of course, the people in africa who suffer from HIV, and the purpose of this song is selling it so that the profits support them and we fight against mother-child transmition of aids ..thats what i read, so you should download it on itunes to help this cause
..anyway, this song really gets to you, it talks about how the people who are facing difficulties (in this case, people with aids), knowing that they have very little hope, still struggle for getting through and makinng things better ..it talks about them having hope ..having hope in other people's help, and encouraging others saying that together we can conquer great divides
Jesus, this song is good. I JUST saw them perform it on Breakfast Television. And it was a really good performance!
I really like this song and the music behind it. The guitar especially.
This song is ALL over Q101 (the big rock station in Chicago) but they won't tell anyone who it is until August 31 because i'm guessing everyone will just hate it when they find out who it's by? It's not like it's hard to just go online and look up the chorus to find it.
Only 2 comments?? C'mon guys! This song is amazing!
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think my details are right, This song was recorded with an African choir and was put on itunes to raise money for AIDS awareness.
So I think this song has something to do with living in Africa, and how it can be very tough in certain areas, but there is always hope, hence the lines 'I find hope...'
I love Hanson, and I don't understand why people still think they haven't changed since Mmmbop.
haha tj wells thats funny about teh radio atation, but i really like this song some artists can do a charity single and it be cheesy but hanson the great songwriters they are beasted it and it is awesome.
The lyrics They say blood is thicker than oceans Still we box our brothers in Make me cry. Along with I find hope in what don't see. I find hope your hate for me. Hate is such a strong word. Hanson are awesome. Anybody else think Ike is like so hott right now. Compared to way back when....
