the song is about you. if you've heard his music and just "bob your head 'cause you're not even listening" he puts his heart and soul into his music and you just fucking sit there pretending to know what he's talking about. don't listen, "feel, damn you, feel" feel the emotion, the heartache he endured to bring you the beauty in front of you. the song is also directed toward a woman he loved or still loves, who acts the way most of you do toward his music. hence the play on words, at all & et al. you people make me sick. fuck, open up a little

I agree with the previous post about being a puppet doing what he is told but has anyone figured out the reason for the title? The term Et Al means "with others" in latin. The play on words is a little confusing to me. Is he saying that he is just one of many in this cycle with this people he is singing to? Like a trick of the week type thing? Any ideas?

I know how many songs on this album are connected to songs on other albums, and I have a feeling this one might be connected to "Danse Russe" in some way. Lyrically they are pretty similar, especially when J. Loren refers to "ghosts." Also the references to dancing and talking about how much he needs the person he's singing to. It's quite possible that I'm seeing ties where there are none, but I think it's a possibility.
