Hymn Lyrics

If to distant lands I scatter
If I sail to farthest seas
Would you find and firm and gather 'til I only dwell in Thee?
If I flee from greenest pastures
Would you leave to look for me?
Forfeit glory to come after
'Til I only dwell in Thee

[INSTRUMENTAL]

If my heart has one ambition
If my soul one goal to seek
This my solitary vision 'til I only dwell in Thee
That I only dwell in Thee
'Til I only dwell in Thee

Wow. Gotta be one of my fav Brooke Fraser songs. Sooooo beautiful!

"If to distant lands i scatter" By scatter i take it as a negative..(sin) More specifically if she strays from God ( "greener pastures" aka "Gods will), will he promise to call her again ("would you leave to look for me")

She then goes on to say "my solitary vision" .."that i only dwell in thee". In other words she knows the ultimate ultimate thing that she wants and needs is to dwell back with God.

Stunning. lyrically & melodically.

It really is a beautiful song, I know Brooke would have written it in reference to God. But I interpret it differently, Thee = equals a lover, you're true love if you will.

LOVE this song; definitely my prayer.
