Shake Tramp Lyrics

Did I let you down to get that sound
And break my knees to get release
And you needed some just to take you from
And I hit you more
Is your face still sore?

Sorry but I tried
It was never mine
And I can still pretend
I guess it all depends
I'm still a little crazy all the time
But I can try to hide it
That's still mine

Try a little more
a little more
a little more
They slap you like a bitch
and you take it like a whore

What a cheap perfume
I hate this room
So testify
But I still tried
And you need that stamp
Little handshake tramp
And you hit me more
And my face is still sore

Sorry but I tried
It was never mine
And I can still pretend
I guess it all depends
I'm still a little crazy all the time
But I can try to hide it
That's still mine

Try a little more
a little more
a little more
They slap you like a bitch
and you take it like a whore

Upside down
and around
and around
Just another piece
Till you need another sound

Faze them out
I know what you scream about
Don't let me down

And the guilt in me is the hurt in you
And the hurt in you is the lost in me
And the lost in me is the need in you
And the need in you is the guilt in me

They've said on numerous occasions that it's about the record industry.

Actually i watched an interview with them and he says that he wrote the song because he felt like he was a sell out at this point and so he wrote shake tramp p.s love this song and this band sooo talented. i cant believe how talented all 4 guys are i mean seriously

Song Meaning

You're right, and anyone who says they wrote it about sex is wrong. I've seen that interview as well.

@callieelizabeth do you know what interview that was? Im doing a project on Josh and im adding a piece about Shake Tramp into it.

Based on the lyrics I posted I don't get much of the song, but what I did get, sorta, was the idea that he's talking to a girl that lets people slap her around like a bitch, and she doesn't stop it, she just keeps taking it; and he tried to help her/make it stop but he couldn't and he feels sort of guilty about it, for letting her down.

But she needs to help herself too. =\

In an interview with the band Josh says: " “slap you like a bitch and you take it like a whore.” He explains, “I was feeling a little bit like a sell–out and the idea was not like “bitch” as in girl or in a hip–hop ‘money on my mind, and my bitch is on my money’ kind of way. It was more like I felt like a whore, ‘cause I was whoring out for the industry and being somebody’s bitch, more like in a prison kind of way…I dealt with it by writing that song.” " [http://www.discorder.ca/oldsite/features/05febmariana.html]

Okay, this is hilarious.

Nobody on here seems to be able to figure out that this song is about the music industry and selling out and all the fans who don't understand the music and just "shake" around like "tramps" anyways to catchy music.

Do you fools listen to music or do you just skim through it?

I don't believe the above lyrics are right. Here's what I think is the actual version -

HAHA i love this song. it's so happy and it's sweet. the video literally made me hysterical. hes running aroound dancing with ppl, then he hits a ladder, and then he's in present day times and he's trying to dance, and ppl are throwing stuff at him haha. they block out the whore part and its like "HMMM wat rimes with MORE?" lol. i love this song.

i guess this has to do with sex. the girl's a slut and she gets slapped around, and she takes it like a whore because basically she is a whore. then theres this guy who wants her for himself, but he feels guilty for trying to do the same thing (treating her like a whore). i don't know lol buuut i love the line: the guilt in me, is the hurt in you, and the hurt in you, is the lost in me, and the lost in me, is the need in you, and the need in you, is the guilt in me.
