Greasy Kid Stuff Lyrics

I've got the hairdo of a child
It's so unruly
It doesn't suit me

My hair is really growing wild
It needs some schoolin'
It needs some groomin'

Oh! Radio!
Can't you hear? Hear my plea?
We need greasy kid stuff
Greasy kid stuff yeah!
(Greasy kid stuff)
(Greasy kid stuff)
Oh yeah!
(Greasy kid stuff)
(Greasy kid stuff)

My radio was out of style
Like some old movie
It wasn't groovy

I tried to fake it for a while
Songs by committee
It was a pity

Oh! Radio!
Can't you hear? Hear my plea?
We need greasy kid stuff
Greasy kid stuff yeah!
(Greasy kid stuff)
(Greasy kid stuff)
Oh yeah!
(Greasy kid stuff)
(Greasy kid stuff)
Oh yeah!

I was gonna post that. I think the website where you can DL this song said it was written in response to a radio show. Is it just me or does it kind of sound like a very abridged summary of the career of the band?

I submitted this to say it's about a dude trying to fit in with fads and be cool. his radio is out of style, and so's his hair. he wants gel, or "greasy kid stuff", to look more in style

Am I the only one who hears a very strong parody of David Bowie in this? The style of singing sounds like it. TMBG has ripped him before, in "Au Contraire..."
