Daylight Slaving Lyrics
Steam rising and spiraling
then vanish in the wind
I cant tell where the land ends and the sky begins
are you acquainted with the threat of being killed
or are you conversing with pigeons on the window sill
every battle has been fought and everything I think was thought
down we down weve descended
every day keeps getting shorter as my sleeves start getting longer
and the sidewalks overflow
patronize pedestrians with no sense of direction
when youre lost and cant ask a question
this city truly is is assaulting my senses
unkempt unruly devour defenseless occupant
if poverty builds character and spoils breed arrogance
id rather consort with the low and the decandent
youd better have the strength of the wandering aimless
with an audience of the most prestigious
do you have to strain to love the one you came with
i hope you have the strength because were in the belly of...
then vanish in the wind
I cant tell where the land ends and the sky begins
are you acquainted with the threat of being killed
or are you conversing with pigeons on the window sill
down we down weve descended
every day keeps getting shorter as my sleeves start getting longer
and the sidewalks overflow

It doesnt seem like there saying "Steam rising and spiraling" thats just me tho
At the beginning I'm pretty sure he's saying Rising and spiraling. It's possible it's not "Steam..." the second time, but thats what the insert says.
i love the 'everyday keeps on getting shorter as my sleeves start getting longer'
im so glad it was ben that left the band instead of fran or something his voice is what makes the band
i like their new stuff better, idk i wasnt a huge fan before. but i love the new vocals too. they cant do a scream/singing overlapping thing anymore tho. this song is great! to me it is about someone, or even an entire town, that is growing more hopeless and depressed as time passes.
Fran as headman is for sure an awsome change, ive seen both fran and ben, great performers but frans better by far. the whole CD is about the struggles of growing up in NYC, so judging by the line
"are you aquainted with the threat of being killed"
this is probably about the constant fear of the city its self
im a fan of them, but this cd compared to "too bad youre beautiful" is nothing. TBYB was way better. by far. but dont get me wrong, like i said i like theyre new stuff too.
true...their old stuff is better, but only by a little...i like the direction they are going in
i think the line, "are you acquainted with the threat of being killed, or are you conversing with pigeons on the window sill"
means are you thinking about whats serious and imminent to your fate on this planet, or are you just participating in the pointless self-serving pleasures.
"every day keeps getting shorter as my sleeves start getting longer" is the transition from warm to cold seasons
I'd rather consort with the low and the DECADENT*, not decandent.
I'm pretty sure the lyrics are:
I'm pretty sure the lyrics are:
"I'd rather consort with the low THAN the decadent"
"I'd rather consort with the low THAN the decadent"
