Here you stand seething with guilt
Silence only justifies this act of cowardice
The look stapled on your face cries out for forgiveness
The one thing that I cannot give

Did you ever see that one person
And the way they do these things
And it hurts you so much it's like choking, choking, CHOKING!

I can give you freedom from your guilt
With a flick of my wrist onto yours
I can give you peace of mind with a forced smile
I can give you death with the look upon my face

This is your freedom, in a life of fallacy
With no last kiss and no regrets
You don't deserve good bye
This is your freedom, in a life of fallacy
With no last kiss and no good bye

Here you stand seething with guilt
Silence only justifies this act of cowardice

With a short story
The one you add to daily
You are the tragic loss
No story book ending for the fairy tale of you
Just the one composed with blood
Taken from your pen that you hold in your lifeless hand
Cry for you, shed tears, mourn
Wish the end
Cry for you, shed tears, mourn
Wish the end
Mourn, wish, the end
Mourn, wish, the end
Mourn, wish, the end

Did you ever look
Did you ever see that one person?
And the subtle way that they do these things and it hurts so much?
So much like choking down the embers of a great blaze
It's that moment when your eyes seem to spread aspersions
And to scream confessions at the insipid sky parting clouds
You let this one person come down at the most perfect moment

And it breaks my heart to know
The only reason you are here now
Is a reminder of what I'll never have
I'll never have
I'll never

Standing so close knowing that it kills me to breathe you in
Standing so close knowing that it kills me to breathe you in
But this table for one has become bearable
I now take comfort in this, in this, I cherish you

Did you ever look, did you ever see that one person?
And the subtle way that they do these things and it hurts so much?
So much like choking down the embers of a great blaze
It's that moment when your eyes seem to spread aspersions
And to scream confessions at the insipid sky parting clouds
And you let this one person come down
Come down

I cherish you
I cherish you
Just say that you would do the same for me
Just say you would do the same
Just say you would do the same for me
For as much as I love Autumn
I'm giving myself to Ashes

i think this song is about someone you love so much and you know they dont love you back..but its tearing you up on the inside, but you live with the pain just so you can get as close to them as you can get. i should know, ive been there and im still there..but people like me make a lot of dumb choices, so we regret things. this song is everything that my life can be explained...prefectly. especailly since that one person you love so much is efatuated by another, who you know is not good for them. . . listen to the song (lyrics) you'll realize the anguish in her voice. thats why this song is so great..her voice tone matches the mood that they are trying to represent.

hey, you guys are all so nice! Ummm. The reason I sang that song on their record was because I thought it was as good as all of you did. Check out my band, maybe you'd like it, it's called One True Thing. Thanks!

This is a good song, and I believe the meaning of the song is: Someone you know for years on end, who inflict much pain stands before you with guilt. This person would like to end this battle as friends, but you say no, no hand shake, no end except a tragic end. Now you will get the revenge on this person, the person which made you miserable, the person that will have no a happy ending but a tragic ending. This person begs for forgiveness, cries out in confessions, but you don't accept, instead you go for revenge, why? Cuz he would do the same for you (like the line said: Just say you would so the same). Kapesh...thats the meaning, for me, and maybe the real meaning...and I like this song so much cuz it reminds me of a part of my own life.

Actually the lyrics to this song really are beautiful, It is not overrated.

This song reminds me of someone. He didnt want to tell me the truth "Here you stand seething with guilt, silence only justifys this act of cowardness" He though we wouldnt be friends anymore/ "the look stapeled on your face crys for forgiveness"

And then of course. you have that one lyric part witch just rips me up

"The ony reason you are here now, is as a reminder of what I'll never have"

this song is, as most people have said, amazing! I can't stop listening to it at the moment. Yes, I must admit I do adore the girlie vocals in it... but that doesnt mean that the lead male isnt absolutely amazing. The contrast between the vocals is so passionate and intense, guess it reflects the struggle between the people in the song. There is a severe lack of meanings explained on this site, but to me I guess it means (to me anyway) that there is some person you are in love with, but they have hurt you so badly that it makes you so angry (like choking)... but you can't stop loving them, even though you want to hate them as it is the only way you could stop these feelings.

I think the male and the female vocals, they lyrics they sing, how they're laid out...everything...it serves to tell a story. Firstly, the male vocals are talking about how he was obviously hurt by this person and he no longer wants anything to do with her anymore. Then, Melanie comes in and sings about how she desperately wants someone but he doesn't love her...could she possibly represent the person that the lead singer is singing about in the first half of the song? He was hurt by her, and wants to sever all ties, while she still loves him but knows that it's over...just a thought.

This song is so amazing. Every word speaks to me. It seems to me like the beginning where the lead singer of FatA sings is the betrayed guys whos girlfriend wants him to feel better so that she can feel better about breaking his heart. The end seems like its from the Girls perspective as she realizes how much she loved him and how not having him is tearing her apart.

I cant say anything that everyone else hasnt. Just to piggyback:

"I can give you freedom from your guilt, with a flick of my wrist onto yours."

Freedom = death "...with a flick of my wrist onto yours." Im sure he's so pissed about what has happened that he would give her the freedom she wants so bad.

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.
