Ear In The Wall Lyrics

Hello can you hear me
I might not be alone
Don’t see anyone near me
But I just might go home again
Lets meet in the morning
I just can’t speak tonight
This is more than a warning
Be silent till its light and then

You know I’ll be there
Waiting for someone to believe me
Remembering it all
Make my flesh start to crawl
I’ve seen an ear in the wall

This time it could prove it
But you've heard this all before
Cry wolf and you’re moving
To a special kind of danger zone
I need a witness
Somebody just like you
So bring an exorcist
A wizard and the Holy Ghost

You know I’ll be there

Waiting for someone to believe me
Remembering it all
Make my flesh creep and crawl
I’ve seen an ear in the wall

One more reason one more time
Someone’s walking through my mind
Now where am I suppose to go
Its not who you are its who you know
What’s it gonna be
I knew you would answer
I’m the curiosity
You could miss a chance because
The fool might see reality
There it is in the corner
You must be going blind
What’s wrong were you born before
Your god invented eyes
It’s got to be there
Grinding away at my secrets
It’s going so dark
And you can’t see it all
I’ll turn on some lights
So you’re sure not to fall
It’s next to the eye in the wall

I think this song is about a guy who claims to see al these thing but is really lying. So one day when he does nobody belives him. Like that girl that cried wolf.

Or it could be like the ear is somebody pressing there ear aganist the wall listening to him. Then the eye is somebody watching him.

Im just guessing.

Anyways great song.

This song is an attack on wiretapping. Although he is not overtly political, this is an issue Dio has written about before (The Eyes-Master of the moon).

Stargazer31 got it right. Maybe you need to travel to London to realize that the"Ear in the Wall" are hidden microphones, sometimes incorporated into the surveillance cameras ("The Eyes", from ""Master of the Moon DIO's Album). "It's next to the eye in the wall".

Sorry Stephan, but Stargazer didn't get it right ;-) In an interview, if you people want I'll look up for it, Dio talked extensively about the song, it's about a paranoid nutter. He sees things that are not there (the ear in the wall), and he's done time and again, to the point nobody believes him anymore (This time I could prove it, but you've heard this all before, cry wolf and you're moving to a special kind of danger zone). This time he calls a friend (Hello can you hear me, I might not be alone, don't see anyone near me, but I just might go home again), and asks him to come over his house (let's meet in the morning, I just can't speak tonight) because there's an ear in the wall. The friend arrives and obviously there's nothing in the wall, to the dismay of the protagonist (There it is in the corner, you must be going blind, what's wrong; were you born before your god invented eyes), anyway it's late and it's growing dark so the dude suggests to turn on the light (It's growing so dark and you can't see it all, I'll turn on some lights so you're sure not to fall), and next to where you turn on the light there's an EYE - and that's how nuts the guy is, there was not only an ear, but also an eye in the wall. He's a complete delusional nutter that sees things that are not there, and this is what the song is about (even though the wiretapping idea was not that farfetched).

I am aware that when RJD sings this song, or the song "The Eyes" with the Band DIO, he says the song is about a paranoid person.

If RJD would not say that the character of the song is paranoid then people who understand the lyrics would think that RJD himself is a paranoid. I do not think RJD wants to be seen as a paranoid at all, and I perfectly understand why he says that on his interviews.

The character from the song is the kind of person who reads about the so-called "Conspiracy Theories" that populate...
