Crucify (Tori Amos cover) Lyrics
Every finger in the room
is pointing at me
I wanna spit in their faces
Then I get afraid of what that could bring
I got a bowling ball in my stomach
I got a desert in my mouth
Figures that my courage would choose to sell our now
I've been looking for a savior in these dirty streets
looking for a savior beneath these dirty sheets
I've been raising up my hands
Drive another nail in
Just what God needs
One more victim
[Chorus:]
Why do we
Crucify ourselves
Every day
I crucify myself
Nothing I do is good enough for you
Crucify myself
Every day
And my heart is sick of being in chains
Got a kick for a dog
Beggin' for Love
I gotta have my suffering
So that I can have my cross
I know a cat named Easter
He says will you ever learn
You're just an empty cage girl
If you kill the bird
I've been looking for a savior in these dirty streets
looking for a savior beneath these dirty sheets
I've been raising up my hands
Drive another nail in
Got enough guilt to start
my own religion
Please be
Save me
I cry
[Chorus:]
Why do we
Crucify ourselves
Every day
I crucify myself
Nothing I do is good enough for you
Crucify myself
Every day
And my heart is sick of being in chains
is pointing at me
I wanna spit in their faces

Where can i download this song? I've been looking for it for ages.
Limewire?
I'm listening to the song now, and I think it's from a concert or something [There is clapping in the beginning], but these aren't the exact lyrics she is singing. -Shrugs-
But I really love the lyrics and how her voice is. Even if I don't believe in God and junk, this song is real beautiful.
She didn't write lyrcs, Tori Amos did. Plus, the religion symbolism is obviously a metaphor. Nothing to do with God at all.

This song really isn't about God, though. When it talks about crucifying yourself, it's talking about blaming yourself. Every day. That nothing you do is every good enough, and so you're hanging yourelf up. Not religious.
I know Tori, big fan for many years. And this is a cover that I actually found to be very nice. =)
I dunno, something about the cover softens the song. In a way I think it takes the power out. Tori's version seems more, I dunno, strong, a statement of fact. This seems more a lament. It's good, but the feeling it evokes just doesn't seem right to the lyrics. It's definitely the vocals that do it, making it just too pretty, ya know?
i don't think it has to do with God either. I mean when she says crucify i think she means that we kill ourselves everyday, and that we lose something so we're just left there, with nothing.
i love this song.
This is a bit late, but it has nothing to do with God. It has everything to do with her lack of courage, and the emotions that she can't let out because she is either too afraid, or too self-conscious. The emotions are building inside her. She doesn't have a lover to let her emotions/aggressions out in that way, either ("...beneath these dirty sheets...") Bowling ball in her stomach, wanting to kick a dog that needs love, etc. She needs a release. Easter, however, tries to convince her that that's not who she is, and if she doesn't stay true...
