Nagaina Lyrics
I have a big secret
out of a shroud prison
The big horrible mess
I'm covered with mud and bile
Inching towards the crowd
Arms outstreched
Releasing my confession
I am a snake
I let my children let my children go
to fend for themselves
De scale me leave me naked on the cutting board floor
I have a big secret
Out of a shroud prison
This big horrible mess
Hing to dry in motherland
Sun tinted humidity
Releasing my confession
I am a snake
I let my children let my children go
Our lives are swamps
We are the swamp
Can you take it
Can't you just get rid of it all
I am a snake
I let my children let them go
out of a shroud prison
The big horrible mess
I'm covered with mud and bile
Inching towards the crowd
Arms outstreched
Releasing my confession
I let my children let my children go
to fend for themselves
De scale me leave me naked on the cutting board floor
Out of a shroud prison
This big horrible mess
Hing to dry in motherland
Sun tinted humidity
Releasing my confession
I let my children let my children go
We are the swamp
Can you take it
Can't you just get rid of it all
I am a snake
I let my children let them go

Now that I really think about it, I think maybe the song is about the feeling of regret and remorse a person feels after abandoning there children and using the rikki tiki tavi story to describe it, saying that he's a snake and that he let his children go. In the story, the snake Nagaina, leaves her eggs in her nest to go and kill a family, while rikki goes into the nest and destroys them. The line "Our lives are swamps" continues with the whole snake metaphor, seeing that snakes live in swamps. The swamps symbolize how the persons life is who abandoned there child, very dark and depressing, and they want to "just get rid of it all". Also, the "shroud prison" could also be describing describing the persons living conditions, seeing that shroud means to conceal something, the home could be the persons own personal prison, concealing there "Big secret". But yeah, just a rough interpretation, I could be completely wrong.
definetly about christian mythology, snake being the devil and all. best song on the cd by far.
I agree with the christian mythology thing, I thought I should point out that Nagaina is the name of the female cobra in "Rikki-Tikki Tavi"
wow, that's an interesting interpretation.fantastic song though (Y)
I thought of it as him speaking as though he is hisfather. who I believed walked out on him as a child or just never was an actual father to him. I base this on the song "loved ones" from "you come before you". I imagine he may have taken alittle inspiration from lots of differnt places though.
I think you're onto it guttershark
I couldn't figure out what this song means, I looked up to work Nagaina and it is Persian word for "Beater". It wasn't until one day I was taking a shower and it clicked, let my children go & beater, the song must be about masturbation as sperm have been referred to as children.
I now believe this song to be about getting caught masturbating and everyone finding out about it.
