Meet Your Master Lyrics

Bow down in position
Against the polished steel
This is something different
You'll like the way this feels
No time for asking questions
No time for wondering
We've heard enough from you now
We've heard everything
We're going to play a new game
You'll put on this blindfold
You'll do what we tell you
You'll do as you're told
Used to be the leader
Now comes the time to serve
Maybe we show some mercy
Maybe you get what you deserve

Count down to the end
Gotta make it come faster faster
Right around the bend
Is a coming disaster
Count down to the end
And we're headed there faster
Come on down my friend
It's time to meet your master

You've left quite a mess here
Under your stewardship
You thought you'd figured it out but
You'll learn your place in this
Might take some convincing
For you to see the truth
There are so many things
We've got in store for you

Count down to the end
Gotta make it come faster faster
Right around the bend
Is a coming disaster
Count down to the end
And we're headed there faster faster
Come on down my friend
It's time to meet your master

I am perfectly aware of the consept, and I see political views and messages shine through, but while listening all I can think of is Reznor and bondage. I'm not saying that he was asking for it... but he kind of was.

That being said I can see how the bondage conection might have been put there on purpose as S&M has everything to do with degrading another person and making them "a lesser man". Again, I am not saying that I believe Trent wrote this about sadomasochism, but I think he chose to make it sound like he did.

I'm quite honestly surprised nobody here looked into the first part of the verse, specifically bowing down in position against the polished steel. If you read the first verse, as well the first 2 lines of the second verse (blindfolding) its all a description of a beheading. "Meet Your Master" is a line used to tell someone its time for you to die, go meet god. A beheading, historically speaking, was almost tradition in a revolution overthrowing what they thought a tyrannical rule. Though like many revolutions, the execution merely led to civil unrest and political struggle (the chorus eludes to this impending "disaster").

My Interpretation

P3NIX, you haven't read anything about the concept of this album, have you? To me, it sounds more like it's about The Presence (or more than one Presence), told from their perspective. They're pissed off at what we've done to the earth (see "The Warning"), and have come down to sort it all out. Hence the reference to "used to be the leader, now comes the time to serve" and "maybe you'll get what you deserve"; it's come to judge those responsible.

This could possibly be told from the view of the Angry Sniper.

Lie down in position Against the polished steel

Don't know how big this feels - this part needs some help I don't know what he's saying but that is NOT it.

We've heard everything*

Another part that needs a lot of help:

Count down to the end, gonna make it go faster What a ----- this has become a real disaster

And another: --- so many --- ---- --- in store for you*

Not so much as a meaning of the song but i get almost a picture like in the wall with the meat grinder and the single file line. Though instead its just a line up of all of misguided humanity set to be blindfolded and hung 1 by 1

I think these are the right lyrics for the chorus:

Count down to the end Gotta make it come faster Right around the bend Is a coming disaster Count down to the end And we're headed there faster Come on down my friend It's time to meet your master

probably not entierly right, but here are the lyrics, again. sorry maybe it was unnecessary? I kinda litteraly transcribed some parts ;) __

Lie down, in position A-gainst the polished steel This is something different You'll like the way this feels No time for asking question No time for wondering We've had enough of you now We've heard everything

We're gon-a play a new gay(m) You put on this blindfold You'll do what we tell you You'll do as you're told Used to be the leader, but-a Now come the time to serve Maybe we'll show some mercy Maybe you'll get what you deser|COUNT! down till the end Gonna make it come faster Right a-round the bend Is a comin' disaster (-saster) Count down till the end And we're headed there faster (faster) Come on down my friend It's time to \m/ MEET YOUR MASTER \m/

You've left quite a mess here UN-der your stewardship You thought you'd figured it out, but You've earned your place in this Might take some convincing Want you to see the truth There are so many things, yeah we've got in store for you (whose got??)

etc. __

I couldn't have done this without abhpro :)

anyway, I think the song is sung by someone, who like wants to torture someone for fucking up everything... like V wanted to give that Chancellor Adam Sutler guy what he deserved... I didn't really follow the ARG, so I dunno who that might be. maybe that angry sniper dude, like squarelover suggested?

It could be interpreted as humanity being blind to the damage we are doing to earth. "No time for asking questions, No time for wondering"

could mean that we should just accept what is happening to our planet and not to question it. The old saying of "The blind leading the blind"
