Stop It Lyrics

It seems like every time we’re here I look right back at you
As your eyes perk up and you say, "boy don’t you come unglued"
I’ll be some kind of busted up on the floor
I’ll make a change so that you want me more
(So that you want me more)

Is this really my idea?
I had no clue, that all of this was really happening
My thoughts leave me lying on the floor
It’s not my fault I’m such an awful mess and more

Now we’re here at breakneck speeds oh just to make me feel
Less aware of all the times, the times I made you
act stronger than you really wanted to
And make a face that said you know just what to do
(You know just what to do)

Is this really my idea?
I had no clue, that all of this was really happening
My thoughts leave me lying on the floor
It’s not my fault I’m such an awful mess and more

It’s true I failed
But your love covers me
It’s true I failed

Is this really my idea?
I had no clue, that all of this was really happening
My thoughts leave me lying on the floor
It’s not my fault I’m such an awful mess and more

Is this really my idea? (Is this real?)
I had no clue, that all of this was really happening
My thoughts leave me lying on the floor
It’s not my fault I’m such an awful mess and more

I think the song is about God: cliche - yes... I think since hes not perfect he know it but he yearns for this love from others.. and his failures are hurting the relationship. but instead of working out the failures he decides to just change and become someone he isn't... try to live life without the confrontations... but then later on he speaks about how his love covers all that... no matter what... and well then it goes back to say his thoughts remain lying on floor... meaning that he wasn't thinking..

I think it's about a guy liking a girl and since they're splitting up he is coming undone. he wants to change so that she will want him back and he's believing that this is the reason why he is all messed up.

It comes across to me like he's frustrated with the girl trying to help him... Like he's saying "Okay... this isn't my fault... will you just stop, please? Stop trying to fix me." Especially because it doesn't appear to be her problem to fix. In the first verse, it's almost like he's mocking her: "I’ll make a change so that you want me more". And then he goes on to say: "Is this really my idea?" Eben when he says "It's true I failed/But your love covers me", he follows it with "Is this really my idea?". I don't really think he loves her. I think he's too confused about himself to deal with anyone else.

dont get wrong, i like this song. but that tamborine is flat out annoying....

no kidding.... "stop it" is the only song off this album that is NOT on my playlist... because of the tambourines and other annoying instruments that drown out his voice... umm.. a lot of people are saying that they think this song is about a girl.... I've never heard a song by Aaron Gillespie about a girl... except a few songs that were put up on youtube.... but even in UnderOATH all the songs are written about God or their lives... Not a girl... it just seems a bit weird for him to suddenly write a song that has nothing to do...

I think Aaron is saying that he is fed up with a girl he loves, and he saying that he had no clue that she was cheating on him or something.

" My thoughts leave me lying on the floor It’s not my fault I’m such an awful mess and more

It’s true I failed But your love covers me It’s true I failed "

he's saying he failed because he didn't bring enough into the reltionship, and she found it elsewhere.

and he's saying that his thoughts leave him on the floor, and hes a mes because he is lost and doesn't know what to do.

this song is great. i personally think its about a girl & a guy in a relationship. and that they're going through alot of stuff. at first he helped her out through all of it but now she wnats to help him and he doesnt want it. he thinks its not her problem to fix or her business to help.

hence the line; It’s not my fault I’m such an awful mess and more

its not his fault that he's not perfect and hence;

Less aware of all the times, the times I made you act stronger than you really wanted to

when he helped her out at first.

or maybe its an addiction of some kind. because aaron's brother was a drug addict. maybe its aaron trying to help him & he's pushing him away saying he doesnt need his help.
