Fix what’s wrong, but don’t rewrite what the artist wrote. Stick to the official released version — album booklet, label site, verified lyric video, etc. If you’re guessing, pause and double-check.
Respect the structure
Songs have rhythm. Pages do too. Leave line breaks where they belong. Don’t smash things together or add extra empty space just for looks.
Punctuation counts (but vibe-editing doesn’t)
Correct typos? Yes. Re-punctuating a whole verse because it ‘looks better’? Probably not. Keep capitalization and punctuation close to the official source.
Don’t mix versions
If you’re editing the explicit version, keep it explicit. If it’s the clean version, keep it clean. No mashups.
Let the lyrics be lyrics
This isn’t the place for interpretations, memories, stories, or trivia — that’s what comments are for. Keep metadata, translations, and bracketed stage directions out unless they’re officially part of the song.
Edit lightly
If two lines are wrong… fix the two lines. No need to bulldoze the whole page. Think ‘surgical,’ not ‘remix.’
When in doubt, ask the crowd
Not sure what they’re singing in that fuzzy bridge? Drop a question in the comments and let the music nerds swarm. Someone always knows.
It's vague in the album and even in the book that came with the album. But it's clearer in the movie.
Jimmy has completely HAD IT
He wants everything in his life to end, just f%#king end–one way or the other.
And part of him DOES end. It's symbolic instead of literal, but Jimmy kind of splits into people at the rock. The person he was drowns, but the new one lives. When he sees the rock standing so proud and strong like the monolith in 2001, he goes to it and lets his boat drift away. With no way to get back, he (symbolically) becomes part of The Rock, and it's strength becomes part of him.
He then has that moment that Richard Pryor talked about (on a kid's show!):
One day when you finally had enough of it, you just say "This is who I am, this is what I like, and this is what I'm going to be. I'm just gonna be ME, and [if someone doesn't like it,] the HELLLL with it! Take it or leave it!"
In the movie, Jimmy appears to commit suicide while The Rock is playing, but it's ambiguous. A hint is given at the end, when Jimmy is alone next to a cliff. "Love reign o'er me" is playing (for us–Jimmy can't hear it). When Daltry sings "reign o'er..." Jimmy (who's alone) screams "ME!!!" It's the only word spoken in the last 10 minutes of the film.
But when you watch it again, you notice something in the VERY first brief scene (it's maybe five seconds). Before the story starts with "I am The Sea," you see Jimmy walking away from the mess he left at the end of the film–with a confident, self-assured smile.
He didn't kill himself.
And he's not a screwed up kid anymore.
â–º The helpless dancer finally stopped dancing.
If you like Quadrophenia, you MUST see the movie!!

This I think is when Jimmy rides out on his boat in depression without a hero only to realize that he can't run. He has to grow up and accept his personalities and live on. Thats when Love, Reign O'er me begins. I always thought at the end he found god or something. The Rock could be a summary of all events leading up to the end as well. All the events racing through his head as he rides out lonely and depressed until he finally reaches his breaking point only to find that his childhood is over and that the rain is showering him. He sees the rain as a sign of love, from god or whoever.
This could also be about the storm raging around Jimmy as his boat drifts off.
The moment Jimmy is at his lowest. The rock bottom. He starts recollecting the events that happened recently and realizing his psychological problems, his split personality.
The song plays the four themes, as a reference to Jimmy realizing his personalities. Then, at the end, the four themes are played simoutaneously, as a coherent whole, showing that the boy finally managed to aquire his identity, structure his mind into a single being.

Water figures prominently in Townshend's writing. The sea is probably god and the universe, and everything eventually returns to the sea.

Jimmy finds God, all right! He looked everywhere: in being a mod, drugs, his job, and falling in love with the girl like he was a needy puppy.
