Paint The Seconds Lyrics
About to give rise
Like the sun never could
More often not, we've been warned
Albeit with
A little taste of regret
Save these strings of color
They threatened, it's too magical
That you still need to grow
The sooner we enter,
The sooner we'll blend
Ease into another
Endless abyss
We stop time
To chase these truths
Tell it to move
Feel like climbing the walls
Useless messengers haste
Rushing to ride
Save these strings of color
They threatened, it's too magical
That you still need to grow
The sooner we enter
The sooner we'll blend
Ease into another
Endless abyss
The sooner we enter
The sooner we'll blend
Ease into another
Endless abyss
The sooner we enter
The sooner we'll
Ease into another
Endless abyss
The sooner we enter
The sooner we'll
Ease into another
Endless abyss
Like the sun never could
More often not, we've been warned
Albeit with
They threatened, it's too magical
That you still need to grow
The sooner we'll blend
Ease into another
Endless abyss
To chase these truths
Feel like climbing the walls
Useless messengers haste
Rushing to ride
They threatened, it's too magical
That you still need to grow
The sooner we'll blend
Ease into another
Endless abyss
The sooner we'll blend
Ease into another
Endless abyss
The sooner we'll
Ease into another
Endless abyss
The sooner we'll
Ease into another
Endless abyss

In my interpretation of Paint The Seconds, it sounds like a song with the desire to talk of the truths the current Chevelle found in Joe Loeffler leaving the band, not only by painting a picture for their respective fans and audiences through their music, but also in telling their share over a matter or seconds in their lyrics.
Do remember this was a band of the three Loeffler brothers at one point. This topic of truth seems plausible in the analysis of these lines:
"I'm about to give rise, like the sun never could." "We've stopped time to chase these truths."
With Vena Sera being the album after the departure of Joe Loeffler there is even more speculation towards the meanings of the lyrics in the album right after the change in Chevelle's band structure...
Here comes the kicker from what I noticed:
"See these streams of color They threatened it's too magical. That you still need to grow"
One could interpret with the "streams of color" as the white lies and controversy spread between the media about the why and how Joe left the band (as their stories/articles about it were harmless to them but not Chevelle). These conflicting reasons/stories about him officially having left "threatened" the band. They seem to be saying for Joe he "still need(s) to grow" after thinking through his reasons for leaving.
(See the conflicting stories here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chevelle) (START) "After the release of the album', the youngest of the brothers, Joe Loeffler, was dismissed from Chevelle. Due to different stories from the band members, it is unclear whether he was fired or left the band of his own accord. Pete and Sam stated the following on the band's official website: "After three years of non-stop touring and recording, Joe is taking a break to be home with family. We'll miss having him on the road with us, but as his brothers and bandmates we respect his decision and are looking forward to getting out there and playing for the fans. See you on tour."
However, according to Ultimate Guitar Archive, Joe said of his departure:
"This is exactly what I expected from them. Try and make it look like I didn't want to be in the band. I was fired plain and simple, in fact there wasn't even a discussion about it they just dropped it on me. I made no decision and am not taking a break. I will be working on getting a new job immediately. A break also means there's a chance to come back, and nothing could be farther from reality."
In late 2006, Pete discussed his brother's departure on MTV.com: "People need to know that he quit many, many times before, and that [the last] time, he quit as well. He took a train home from Kansas City, Missouri, and the [rest of the] band flew home. And when we did get home, it was the same old thing – Joe quit again. When he was confronted on it, he denied it, and we said, 'Well, too bad, because now, it's really over." (END)
"The sooner we enter, The sooner we'll blend. Ease into another, Endless abyss."
These lines seem to involve entering the music world again after Joe left the band, and the sooner they re-enter this world by writing songs, playing and continuing their band they will once again "blend" into the band Chevelle once more (even with their new style and new member) joining the world of music once again as the "new" Chevelle could easily "ease (the Loeffler family) into another endless abyss" of fighting with Joe as there will always be controversy and hurt over a band and family divided.
in my own opinion the best song on the cd it is so melodic and pete really shows his vocals... im still trying to figure out what it means tho... help me out here
I agree. Probably the best song off the new album. I love every song on the album though, definitely their best yet.
sounds like sex
Save these strings of color They threatened it's too magical. That you still need to grow
this is just a guess but these lyrics if nto the whole song could be about the ganj... too magical that you still need to grow?? sounds like weed to me.
I think instead of He's into another, it's Ease into another.
FIRST OF ALL THESE FUCKING LYRICS R TYPED WRONG.... SECOND OF ALL CHEVELLE HAS BEEN MISTAKKEN FOR BEING A CHRISTIAN BAND BECAUSE OF THE CHRISTIAN RECORD LABEL THEY WERE SIGNED UP TO.. THEY KEEP THEYRE FAITH AND MUSIC SEPARATE (EXCEPT FOR THE SONG LONG THAT SEEMS TO BE ABOUT GOD) i believe that this is just looking at life in general and the phases we go through aka "ease into another endless about" esing into the phases of life its saying how we wasted time questioning "these truths" as we grow we begin to blend in with the others because when ur a kid things are different but when u get older its like u understand what ur parents go thru and stuff ur blending in
PS->i forgot to say hence the title "paint the seconds" or we paint the seconds that flow, just imagine actually painting the seconds that pass by in our life-were creating a master peice- a picture that we could only see when we finish painting our lives
o yeah and this is lauren lush's friend... soon to have my own account :-) look for me on myspace if u agree or argue www.myspace.com/chevelle_groupie
treesmart7.. do you know nothing at all about chevelle?? they have already said they aren't a christian band, just happened to get a christian label. so stop acting so fucking stupid.
