i think the song is about him talking about a girl he cares for so much but she doesnt feel the same
"without ever letting go i knew ud gone" he wouldnt have to let her go shed still leave him
"rats will follow" could maybe mean people to find things out and details. rat her out
"ive placed every mole there is to place on ur wasted body" hes tried everything to understand her reasons for feeling the way she does but in the end it gets him no where
