Pressure the Hinges Lyrics

And now I’m running out of reasons.
And I spoke too soon.
The clock weighs on the counter top.
Everything is sinking through the floor.
You hold the door and I’ll pressure the hinges.
Would you trust these locks?
And sleep to hide you secrets?
Dodging bullets is easier when you don’t believe in fate.
And I swear, I swear we won’t make it obvious when we turn around again.

What are you afraid of?
Are you scared you’re not alone?
You keep running out. Turn around again.
You aspire to be helpless, hopeless.
Burning all your dreams

I’m running low on secrets that will quench your thirsty ears.
And I’m counting the seconds between distraction and the moment.
Fifteen seconds till melt down.
Fifteen seconds till the roof will hit the floor.
I see the light in the stairway and the floor is littered with maps and hotel keys.
So we turn around again.

What are you afraid of?
Are you scared you’re not alone?
You keep running out. Turn around again.
You aspire to be helpless, hopeless.
Burning all your dreams

Wear the robe of pig skin and he’ll wear the crown.
He’ll run and he’ll run and he’ll run till you stop him.

What are you afraid of?
Why are you so afraid? Turn around again.
I see your eyes changing and your passion’s gone again.
You’re still running out. Turn around again.
We desire to be comfort in this broken world you’re in.

Fifteen seconds till... fifteen seconds till...

one of my favorites. Love the breakdown

I'm not sure on what most of the lyrics in the song mean...but the song as a whole to me seems to be about giving in to sin and completely changing back to this worldly person who gives into temptation and doesn't feel the same about God.

This is why I thought of this...

"I see your eyes changing and your passion’s gone again. You’re still running out. Turn around again. We desire to be comfort in this broken world you’re in."

The passion for God is lost when you give into sin. Running away from him...the last line is obvious.

"Wear the robe of pig skin and he’ll wear the crown. He’ll run and he’ll run and he’ll run till you stop him."

If you wear the pig skin, Satan will wear the crown. (Pig being a dirty animal, sinful)

I'm not sure but this is what I think.

I believe it could also involve the non believer. YOu know, they turn around when they hear God's calling. This is also reminiscent(?) of "Fire To My Soul" by Demon Hunter.

well then sevenfold i would hate to be your parents and just how many times have you listened to this breakdown exactly? and why is it these days that kids only listen to the music with breakdowns?

For me hardcore music is not epitomized by memorable choruses, rather a great breakdown is what I look for. Haste the Day's breakdowns do not stand out as much in relation to the rest of the parts of the songs (verse, chorus, solo, etc.) due to there being catchy melodic choruses, whereas if you look at a band like Parkway Drive who does not use melodic choruses one can easily see why loving breakdowns is necessary to properly appreciate hardcore music. I am insulted that you think I only listen to music with breakdowns, because that would be very close-minded of me. I also only break repairable things.

Christ the King's interpretation was definitely close if not completely correct. I think he had it.

Im running low on secrets that will quench your thirsty ears.

Running low on things to say to the non believer that will bring him to Christ.

Dodging bullets is easier when you dont believe in fate.

It's easier to avoid conversion when you don't believe in a firm relationship with God or a path to Heaven.

You hold the door and Ill pressure the hinges.

In order to convert, the non believer must lead himself into it with the help of the converter.
