Let me hear you say: "hey, hey, hey" (Hey, hey, hey)
All right, now let me hear you say: "hey, hey, ho" (Hey, hey, hey)

I hate it when a guy doesn't get the door
Even though I told him yesterday and the day before
I hate it when a guy doesn't get the tab
And I have to pull my money out, and that looks bad

Where are the hopes, where are the dreams
My Cinderella story scene?
When do you think they'll finally see

That you're not, not, not gonna get any better
You won't, won't, won't, you won't get rid of me never
Like it or not, even though she's a lot like me
We're not the same

And, yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm a lot to handle
You don't know trouble, I'm a hell of a scandal
Me, I'm a scene, I'm a drama queen
I'm the best damn thing that your eyes have ever seen

All right, all right
Yeah

I hate it when a guy doesn't understand
Why a certain time of month I don't want to hold his hand
I hate it when they go out, and we stay in
And they come home smelling like their ex-girlfriend

But I found my hopes, I found my dreams
My Cinderella story scene
Now everybody's gonna see

That you're not, not, not gonna get any better
You won't, won't, won't, you won't get rid of me never
Like it or not, even though she's a lot like me
We're not the same

And, yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm a lot to handle
You don't know trouble, I'm a hell of a scandal
Me, I'm a scene, I'm a drama queen
I'm the best damn thing that your eyes have ever seen

Give me an A, always give me what I want
Give me a V, be very, very good to me
R, are you gonna treat me right?
I, I can put up a fight
Give me an L, let me hear you scream loud (let me hear you scream loud)

One, two, three, four

Where are the hopes, where are the dreams
My Cinderella story scene?
When do you think they'll finally see

That you're not, not, not gonna get any better
You won't, won't, won't, you won't get rid of me never
Like it or not, even though she's a lot like me
We're not the same

And, yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm a lot to handle
You don't know trouble, I'm a hell of a scandal
Me, I'm a scene, I'm a drama queen
I'm the best damn thing that your eyes have ever seen

Let me hear you say: "hey, hey, hey" (Hey, hey, hey)
All right, now let me hear you say: "hey, hey, hey" (Hey, hey, hey)

(Hey, hey, hey)
(Hey, hey, hey)
(Hey, hey, hey)
(Hey, hey, hey)

I'm the best damn thing that your eyes have ever seen

For a bit there I thought that this song was sarcastic but unfortunately it seems it isn't. If it was sarcastic it would be awesome

i totally agree with limoncello182. What's the point of commenting on a song you don't even fucking like? What's it gonna do? You aren't even mentioning the proper meaning of the song, just slamming it. Jeez. And Avril is all about girl power! She's not about girl's getting treated like grass and stepped on, she's about telling boys that they CANT step on her like grass. The Best Damn Thing is pretty awesome, too, if you think of it in the way how she's telling a guy that she's been in love with for a long time that she's the best damn thing he'll ever see, because he's - sorry if i get all old skool on you or anything - attraacted to her and same way back. easy.

Wow! This is kinda strange! I'm gonna feel really awkward for mentioning this; but no one has actually tried to describe this song yet. Yay! i get to be the first to take a shot at it...

This sounds like one of them High School girls who gets whatever they want whenever they want! You know, a cheerleader, perfect body, popular, feels like her life is better than everyone eles, and takes her looks for granted. Basiclly THE BEST DAMN THING that we've ever seen. This song is probabily about one of those kind of girls having a boyfriend that she stole from someone eles. However, the guy probabily doesn't wanna be with her, and her responce to that is... "I'm the best damn thing that your eyes have ever seen"

Overall, my thoughts on the song were 'this would be a perfect song for the movie: Mean Girls.' Lol

tho to me it kinda sounds like a run off of girlfriend for some reason, just the same type of sound i guess.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.
