[italian]

wake up, dont let them get you down
you've got a fine young mother who never doubted you
and you know it takes time to get better
but betters never forever

jeannie dont you cry
youre just a quarter of your life
jeannie dont you cry
you've got the whole world coming back
you've got the whole world coming back to you
and let go

yeah he never meant to hurt
you cant just build your heart up and give it all away like that
you say you want somethign so different
when you always look in the same damn place

jeannie dont you cry
youre just a quarter of your life
jeannie dont you cry
you've got the whole world coming back
you've got the whole world coming back to you

[italian]

jeannie dont you cry jeannie
yeah i know he never touched you right
jeannie dont you cry
youve got the whole world coming back
youve got the whole world coming back to you

wake up, dont let them get you down

Actually, in the CD booklet, it's credited as being Italian. So the only thing I see wrong is that it's not Spanish.

The song is about one of his friends, name, obviously, Jeannie. They're like best friends... and it's supposed to be that sort of "hold your head up when things get bad" song...

here's the answer...it's ITALIAN! and she says "perchè mi lasci da sola? non vedi che [inapprehensible] perchè non mi telefoni? so che hai ricevuto i miei messaggi, io ti amo, ti amo, ero un'altra ragazza, perchè sei arrabbiato tutto quel tempo? ti ho visto ieri, ti manco troppo, ti amo" and that means "why you left me alone? can't you see that [..] why don't you call me? i know you get my messages, i love you, i love you, i was another girl, why are you angry along? i saw you yesterday, you miss me so much (i think she would say "i miss you so much" ..her italian is not so good, lol), i love you"

i almost forget..i don't think this song's about a friendship.. she says "ti amo" that means "i love you" and not just in a friendly way..

I still think it's about a friend... just because in the lyrics he's singing about a guy that "never touched you right." I think the Italian is talking about that guy... the bad one, not Will himself.

Both as a standalone and as part of the DSOTS album, you can take this lyric as read. As a matter of public record, Jourgensen's drug intake was legendary even in the 1980s. By the late 90s, in his own words, he was grappling with massive addiction issues and had lost almost everything: friends, spouse, money and had nearly died more than once. "Dark Side of the Spoon" is a both funny & sad title for an album made by a musical genius who was losing the plot; and this song is a message to his fans & friends saying he knows it. It's painful to listen to so I'm glad the "Keith Richards of industrial metals" wised up and cleaned up. Well done sir.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

This is a sequel to 2001's "Reckless Abandon", and features the band looking back on their clumsy youth fondly.
