Misery's Crown Lyrics

All has now been broken
On streets I dare not walk
Freedom is an illusion
I build my fences high
If there was something out there
I’ve learned not to expect
There’s a hundred million reasons not to care

Don’t bring it
Don’t bring it
Don’t bring your misery down on me

Don’t bring it
Don’t bring it
Don’t bring your misery down on me

Wear misery’s crown

As always in these matters
You broke the deal of deals
And wasted what was given
To revel in your mess
I gave up all for nothing
I tried my best and failed
There’s a thousand million reasons
Never to share again

This is how it all begins
This is how it all begins

Don’t bring it
Don’t bring it
Don’t bring your misery down on me

Don’t bring it
Don’t bring it
Don’t bring your misery down on me

Wear misery’s crown

Go now
Go now
Go now

Don’t bring it
Don’t bring it
Don’t bring your misery down on me
Don’t bring it
Don’t bring it
Don’t bring your misery down

Wear misery’s crown

It sounds like it's about a bully, "On streets I dare not walk", the bully chills on the streets "I build my fences high", "learned not to expect", the victim protects himself by expecting the worst and builds a fence out of misery.

People always tell me that bullies are people with personal problems, and that bullying is bringing their misery on others, the chorus could relate to that

I know this interpretation is wrong, cos who in the right or wrong mind would attempt to bully Mikael! He would just roar with his amazing death metal vocals, and said bully would explode!

@IronArkadius666 I do agree with your interpretation. Well, that's the brilliance of art. anyone can comprehend an art piece in a different way and the way it relates to them or their views... Somehow I see this song as a complaint about the governments and the society in general. When you are a kid, you think there is a way for the world to become a good to live in, but as you grow up, you learn it hard way not to always trust what you hear and keep your guards on, as many around you could be a filthy...

@IronArkadius666 p.s: I know that part of my comprehension(about governments and diplomats) could seem a bit off for the part "Never to share again", but it still could relate to it, as we do share our needs and lots of our personal informations with our governments and they could(and many do)abuse it in any ways that favor them.

@IronArkadius666 I quite like this interpretation. Thank you.

I think the song is about someone who has been burnt people he had put his trust in and has now built walls around himself to protect himself from any "misery" that people may bring on him and has now isolated himself.

@frooshie absolutely!

Sounds to me like the story of someone who's lost his faith in others, probably because of whatever happened between him and the person in the second verse, and withdrawn from society.

Yeah, or in someone. Or could be that a certain person tried so hard for someone but was never good enough. That theory automatically makes me think of a borderline =/

its always a special treat for me when he sings clean on tracks...i love his clean voice. i agree with the comments above me, it is definitely about the person being betrayed by someone extremely close to him and hes saying im done with it, no more.

Mikael should sing clean more often. He was a really awesome voice.

This song is about the people Dark Tranquillity hate/dislike. I'm sure, Mikael said it when I saw them live.

mikael says in the new dvd "...here's a song about that one person out there (that) makes it all go to hell"

Sounds like it's about someone who's sick and tired of humanity.he tried really hard and sacrificed a lot but failed now he doesn't care anymore and does not wan't to hear others complaining about problems that they created on their own.
