how has no one commented on this. ha! the cd has only been out a day what am i saying! anyway, i think this yet another song that just leaves me wanting more. its so beautiful.

it's like a part of a circle sitting in the park with guitar, singing that they can think about.

This song resonated very clearly with me but may resonate differenlty with someone else...thats the beauty of Tori. This songs speaks to explaining the truth around organized religion in our world....very succinctly. Man has created all sorts of religous beliefs to "explain" the human spiritual element. However, what man has done is falsify history and made up stories and used them to control and deceive. This is the ultimate crime that Tori speaks of...manipulation/control of our human spirits to yield power and control to religious organizations. Ultimately, there are no dieties above or below us. You and I are the devils and gods. We as humans create goodness or evil depending on your spirit within. I also think there is a message of personal accountability underlying all this as well.

"Devils and gods, they are you and I, Devils and gods, safe and inside"

that line says to me, in a MUCH less direct manner, what I've heard other people say before: "we are our own gods, we are our own devils."

that's kind of what comes to my mind with this song. it seems that Tori is saying with it, "we are our own gods and devils, so why are people out there making war and blaming everybody else (including everybody else's gods and devils) for it instead of taking responsibility?"
