Running on a Treadmill Lyrics
You've got me so I'm running round and round in circles
You've got me so I can't see my own face
You've got me so I feel I've been like this forever
You've got me so I'm crazy with disgrace
I know what's on your mind
But it's not what you think it is
I know what's on your mind
But it's not what you think it is
Running on a treadmill after you and I'm
Running on a treadmill now
Running on a treadmill after you and I'm
Running on a treadmill now
You've got me so I can't see my own face
You've got me so I feel I've been like this forever
You've got me so I'm crazy with disgrace
But it's not what you think it is
I know what's on your mind
But it's not what you think it is
Running on a treadmill now
Running on a treadmill after you and I'm
Running on a treadmill now

One of my more favorite Oingo Boingo songs, and perhaps among the more underrated.
I think its just about a relationship of some sort that's just going nowhere and the singer is finally realized that.
a great song that i hear no one talk about besides the deepest of oingo boingo fanclubs, which deserves far more attention. i think one of the best aspects of this song is the so many ways that it can be interpreted, so i figured i'll throw in my two cents into this conversation. i'll start off with the most catchy part of the song, that being the chorus. i think that "running on a treadmill" can be interpreted as the main character bettering himself in hopes that "you" will recognize him. i'd also like to say that contrary to the interpretations of posters before me, i think that the song is about someone who wishes to be in a relationship with "you" yet can't manage to, rather than already being in one. in other words, having more or less the same story as "just once or twice is good for your soul." theres what i've got to say, but as i stated before theres a number of ways to interpret this song, so believe whatever interpretation you like the best.
I think this song is about how crazy that this person has the singer feeling. "Running on a treadmill" to me, symbolizes how much they're chasing after this person but they're going nowhere. the parts where he says "You got me so" over and over again is the singer feeling crazy once again over this person, maybe the person riles the singer up that they go yk insane. The only part I can't truly decipher is "I know what's on your mind but it's not what you think it is." Maybe the person thinks the singer only wants them for some sort of sexual interaction but when in reality the singer truly loves the other person, even in a crazy ass way lol. In the live version he adds more lyrics indicating the person the singer is talking about has their whole body in a state. so yea lol
an insanely interesting and catchy song...then again it IS Oingo Boingo.
The first thing that came to my mind is that when you run on a treadmill, you don't go anywhere, hence the lyric "you've got me so I'm running round and round in circles".
This is one of those songs that can be interpreted on many levels. On one level, it's about a relationship which is not going the way the singer wants it; he's pursuing something from his lover, and not getting it. It can also be about getting successful in life. He's wanting to be successful, but no dice.
