i agree that its about lust. as you can see in his emotion in the video...this charmer is someone he really shouldn't be checking out, and it drives him completely mad. its all written perfectly, bass, drums, guitar and vocals all seem to be going in the same direction but on a different route which makes it outstanding. shines on the album with mcfearless!
To me it sounds like someone (maybe the preacher's wife, but I think it doesn't necessarily has to be taken literally, could just be someone "forbidden") is trying to seduce him, always looking at him, making eye contact. It drives him crazy because he knows he can't do anything with her but can't stop himself from having thoughts about her either. She makes him want something he can't have and makes it harder by seeking his attention. I don't really understand the stealing the karma and selling it to the farmer bit. Maybe she stole the (good)karma he built up before, by making him think or want "wrong" things. Maybe the selling to the farmer expresses that the karma was taken for nothing, she didn't take it for herself. But I'm just guessing.
I find gfy's interesting too, I didn't look at it that way. Could very well be the meaning too.
Apart from the 'farmer' bit I think it pretty much speaks for itself and I wouldn't be surprised if most of it was literal. The woman's a charmer: so she's probably hot, pretty and tempting - and she keeps looking at him. It freaks him out because a) she's already married to the preacher and b) he's probably tempted. I agree with 'Brainsinthedirt' about Caleb's scream at the beginning of each song. I think the screams are perfect for this song and reflects exactly his panic and desperation at what she's doing and what he's feeling about it. Brilliant. I think if Caleb had wanted the scream to be more hardcore or less hardcore than normal he would have done it that way.
This is an ace tune, love the bass, love Nathan's drumming. It all works together so perfectly.
This song sounds like it has some pixies influence to it, maybe its just me.
Maybe its about a really sexy girl who's married but tries to draw him in. Like he knows nothing can happen but he wants her so bad. The desperation of Caleb's screaming and his face in the video is from having to restrain himself.
This song is MOST definitely about their mother. 1) his mother WAS born in West Virginia. 2) his mother married a Pentecostal preacher 3) when they performed this song on the O2 in London Live DVD as soon as they finished this song Caleb thanked his mother for being there.
The first two alone are enough to tell you it's about their mom, #3 could be debated.
lmfao countryXcore
lmao nah jk this song is sick as hell the CD is really good i really liked it but it took some getting used to.
When I first heard the vocals in this song, I wondered how the hell Caleb is gonna sing this song through a full tour?
I agree with Q_ELLIOT, when i heard this I immediately thought of Pixies song 'Tame'. Though the screaming is nowhere near the same intensity.
i like the screaming, even though it burns my ears/soul, i still crank it up! ITS SO FRIGGIN' LIVELYYY! :D
