Say Your Prayers Lyrics
Look at you now just standing there
Like you think you're something
The lights are up
And the crowd is looking your way
Swaying through what you live to say
So go ahead boy,
Give a little taste of hypocrisy
Maybe you'll hear, the blasphemy
Whatever you preach, it isn't in me
You wanna walk with me
Well do ya?
You wanna walk with me
Well if you love me
Then just love me
Don't you give me pretty words
Lend your life down at the altar
Let me see how serious you are
These people talking to me
No more than how their idols
And various poems with lust in their eyes
They crave for more
To hate the place where the court played carnivores
Well, keep your focus
Because today will come
When everyone will give account
for what they've done
Make me proud
Make me proud my son
You wanna walk with me
Well do ya?
You wanna walk with me
Well if you love me
Then just love me
Don't you give me pretty words
Lend your life down at the altar
Let me see how serious you are
Look at this broken world
Look at my children, oh
Look at this broken world
Look at my children, oh
Cause they're angels
Sing to me the love song
Look up!
Say your prayers on the steps of the capital
Look up
Say your prayers on your knees
Look up!
Say your prayers
Look up!
Say your prayers
You want us to be like you always thought He would
And all you seem to accomplish is the opposite
You wanna walk with me
Well do ya?
You wanna walk with me
Well if you love me
Then just love me
Don't you give me pretty words
Lend your life down at the altar
Let me see how serious you are
Like you think you're something
The lights are up
And the crowd is looking your way
Swaying through what you live to say
Give a little taste of hypocrisy
Maybe you'll hear, the blasphemy

I have a few corrections, though I'm not so sure of the last one.
When everyone will give account
Don't you give me pretty words
Sing to me the love song
I agree with xxsoxcontagiousxx ; Sounds likes love song although a part of me feels like it should say whole song
editted. Thanks guys.
I think it makes a little more sense now for me. To me, it seems as though its sung from God's perspective. Hence the "don't you give me pretty words/lend your life down at the altar/let me see how serious you are".
^^^ i think that basically means that our commitment, our dedication to God obviously isn't proven through what we say, but more so our actions.
yeah..
look at you now just standing there like you think you're something the lights are up and the crowd is looking your way just waiting for what you have to say
so go ahead boy, give a little taste of hypocrisy maybe a hint of blasphemy whatever you're preaching it isn't in me.
you wanna walk with me? well do you? wanna walk with me? well if you love me then just love me don't you give me pretty words lay your life down at the alter let me see how serious you are.
thats what i hear. everything else is the same.
simply_me has it, pretty much, the verses say that Despite the world being these evil people doing bad things we keep our commitment to God (or we should)
A couple of corrections, too I think it's "corporate carnivores" And, silentsaint's changes are correct
My third and final order of business: I just posted the rest of the lyrics from Polarity, so they should be up this week
I hear: "just waiting for what you have to say" "lay your life down at the altar" "because the day will come" "whatever you're preaching it isn't me"
I see this song as a war cry against following the way of the world.. but not just the world, of the stereotypical "christian" life, where sOmE of us might take the time out of our busy schedules to make it to church once a week, and then go on living our lives however we want to. To me, that's what I feel the part of the song that talks about "don't you give me pretty words" is talking about. We can tell God that he's our priority and we can sing songs praising him all day long but God's not satisifed with just that- he wants our LIVES. I think there's a point where the words that we sing are insulting to our father when they come such blatantly hypocritical mouths..
I think this song is definitely sung from God's point of view, although much of the posted lyrics don't make sense or sound right so I listened to those parts over and over again and I think I've got the right lyrics here:
Look at you now just standing there Like you think you're something The lights are up And the crowd is looking your way It's waiting for what you have to say
So go ahead boy, Give a little taste of hypocrisy Maybe you'll hear, the blasphemy Whatever you preach, it isn't Me
You wanna walk with Me Well do ya? You wanna walk with Me Well if you love Me Then just love Me Don't you give Me pretty words Lend your life down at the altar Let Me see how serious you are
These people don't look to Me no more They've got their idols and various poems With lust in their eyes They crave for more Take the place where the court bread carnivores Well, keep your focus 'Cause the day will come When everyone will give account For what they've done Make Me proud Make Me proud My son
You wanna walk with Me Well do ya? You wanna walk with Me Well if you love Me Then just love Me Don't you give Me pretty words Lend your life down at the altar Let Me see how serious you are
Look at this broken world Look at My children, oh Look at this broken world Look at My children, oh Cause they're already gone Sing to Me the love song Look up Say your prayers on the steps of the capital Look up Say your prayers on your knees Look up Say your prayers, oh Look up Say your prayers
You want us to be like you always thought He would And all you seem to accomplish is the opposite
You wanna walk with Me Well do ya? You wanna walk with Me Well if you love Me Then just love Me Don't you give Me pretty words Lend your life down at the altar Let Me see how serious you are
Cheers for the corrections, but I can't do anything now because they've removed the 'edit' link. Only way to change this is to report the changes.
how do you report changes?
