Emma Kate's Accident Lyrics
And you will say you did it to yourself
And you will say you fell down the stairs
And you will say you walked into a door
And you will say you have two left feet
And you will say it was your own fault
And you will lie but I know the truth
There's a difference in loving and being in love
When we talk now I listen for the truth
In your lies and we're doing so good
How your heart still belongs to him
There's a difference in loving and being in love
And you will say you fell down the stairs
And you will say you walked into a door
And you will say it was your own fault
And you will lie but I know the truth
In your lies and we're doing so good
How your heart still belongs to him

She's in an abusive relationship with her current boyfriend, and kele could be either her best friend, or her ex boyfriend and he sees the truth and knows what's really happening, and that she thinks she's in love, when really she's not.
and greatone1987, i totatlly understand, i almost cried the first time i listen to this.
kele's voice sounds like an angel. he is a god.
what nice lyrics i like the last line
It's "you will" not "you'll all", i think..
about domestic violence?
You know it actually amazes me that people dont know there is a difference between loving someone and being in love with someone...
njs is right... it should say "And you willl say..." and with that in mind i'll take a stab at what i think this song means...
i think this is about an abusive relationship... the song is titled "emma kate's accident" but she didnt have an accident, her boyfriend was physically abusing her... and he is now telling her what she will tell to people when they ask how she got the bruises.
aka she walked into a door/ fell down the stairs/ did it herself and she'll lie for him but he knows the truth = "And you will lie but I know the truth"
"When we talk now I listen for the truth" is about how her boyfriend is always watching her and making sure she isnt telling anyone about how he hits her
and "In your lies and we're doing so good How your heart still belongs to me" is about how they are still together cuz she is able to keep it a secret
lastly i think emma kate stays with her boyfriend cuz he tells her he loves her, but as kele says.. "There's a difference in loving and being in love" which i believe is the whole message of the song.. KNOW THE DIFFERENCE!!
ok, well at the end it sounds to me like "your heart still belongs to HIM" so this made me think that kele is speaking from an outside point of view, just telling her like it is; "and you will say..." Also when he sings it, it doesnt sound at all like an order so i dont think its the boyfriend or whoever is meant to be abusing her.
THEN i thought, maybe it's the victim HERSELF, thinking about her own situation, and she knows what she will say and do. but she is talking to herself, like explaining it to herself?
anyway, i know what i mean. if that made no sense to you then dw, but i still deffo think its "how your heart still belongs to HIM".
i agree, im really sure the last bit there is "your heart still belongs to him". i think its about a guy whos sort of in love with this girl, but she is in a bad realtionship thats harmful to her and i think it hurts him a lot too. lots of interpretations, one great song.
k so listening to this song im pretty sure its about hows he's been about everything, all the little details and he's realizing that the chick he's willing to do anything for is afraid of their age gap..im not really sure if hes the older one or she is...but theres an age gap and he's trying to make her realize that theres more in the world that facts and all that.
yea. redundant, i know. but i fuckin loooove bloc party
