Two Receivers Lyrics

Krill edible oceans at their feet
A troublesome troop out on safari
A lullaby holds their drones in sleep

For tattling clearly indiscreet
Five fallible flags in hybersonic
Are told to stay nearly out of reach

And in space, two receivers turn away
Just in case, two receivers turn away
To displace, two receivers turn away
And in space

Submissions in outer regions pleased
A gathering of teens in old Sargasso whose mission is to fall flat at their feet

While sat on a sparsely crowded beach
Marine noticed change in perfect timing
A widow to all but her pastiche

And in space, two receivers turn away
Just in case, two receivers turn away
To displace, two receivers turn away
And in space

Eternal flow, strings to your bow
Roam through the globe
Eternal flow, strings to your bow
Roam through the globe

It's "Whose AIM is to fall flat at their feet", not "mission".

And if it was; "And in space, two receivers turn away Just in case, two receivers turn away To displace, two receivers TURNED away", then the chorus would make sense.

@Flamsmark; What you said about the novel Gravity's Rainbow (by Pynchon) is correct, though I haven't heard that the book is some sort of "key" to understand Klaxon's lyrics. Great read though.

More on the novel here; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gravity's_Rainbow (Klaxons are mentioned under "Cultural impact")

I have no idea what this song could be about, but i love it. [confused] The chorus is fun to sing, that's all lol.

I was only just bought this album and im just throwing a guess at this as i listen to it...but it sounds like they are talking about the world's media and News blanking out all the important bad things in the world..?

"Five fallible flags in hybersonic Are told to stay nearly out of reach"

Western Countries' Airplanes not being sent in when they are needed in africa? (i thought africa coz of safari)

etc.....Looking at it like that, it does seem to make sense....but i only just heard it for the first time so i wouldn't assume im right

I think the lyrics are just there to set the scene for the album - a surreal, alternate universe.

Summary: A prophesy or prophesies comes to pass, so two recievers turn away and this causes someone/thing to wake up and roam the globe.

Although I'm constantly tempted by the suggestion that Klaxons lyrics aren't meant to be understood (just odd clauses put together randomly), there is a certain feeling I get from this one.

The feel is similar to the chaotic and sci-fi theme mentioned in other songs on the album. It sounds like a series of predicted events coming to pass:

'a troublesome troupe out on safari,' 'a gathering of teens in old sargasso*,' &c

at which point two ancient satelites in orbit wake up to follow the arcane commands set in them by their creators. The final stanza seems somewhat musical:

'strings to your bow,'

though it has a feeling of being a response to the recievers turning away.

Or it coud just be nonsense-sentences stuck together.

Other note:

  • link between krill and sargasso [recent studies indicate the sargasso sea to have far higher diversity of micro-organisms than was previously believed]

*even though the sargasso sea isn't somewhere that you'd really expect anyone to be gathering

Flamsmark - Klaxons' lyrics really 'aren't meant to be understood', as you said. At least they aren't meant to be understood in the same way for everyone. Sure, there was an underlying meaning/idea when they began writing, but the boys ultimately want their songs to be encrypted so as to let fans try their creative hand at deciphering and understanding the lyrics.

PrimalChaos - 'encrypted' implies that there's some plaintext that can be determined, if one can only find the right key. My 'feeling' was just what jumped out at me when i first listened to it. However, it has been suggested on this site that there's a source text (a science fiction novel called gravity's rainbow, though i may be mistaken on that one) which one can use to decode the lyrics, with a bit of intensive study.

Can someone please correct the song title? There's a spelling mistake - it's RECEIVERS, not RECIEVERS. If there's a spelling mistake, people who look for this song won't be able to find it unless they visit the Klaxons page and then click here, which is slooow and also, for love's sake, change it, it's WRONG. Two Receivers!!

Haven't got a clue about this, good song though. I like the kinda "dark" tune this has compared to the other more pop-y lyrics and tunes.

Like I said, I don't knwo what it's about.
