Sedative Lyrics
Sedative,
it's a sedative
it was my hero
oh it was..
What's it really like now
it's been a long long time since I've step outside
to the morning sun now
would you take me out
take me by the hand now
it's been a long, long time since I've step outside
to the morning sun.
Sedative,
it's a sedative
it was my hero
and I had a hit
??????

and I had a hit on it

to the morning sun now
would you take me out
and I crawl along now
it's been a long, long time since I've step outside
to the morning sun.
My faith for you

cliched as it is at this point its clearly about the skag
This is one song my Pete Doherty that is most definitly about heroin as heroin is indeed a sedative and this song is about his addiction/ reliance on it.
uhu i love this, it's the best from the blinding ep imo. This would be a great closer to an album having that powerful chorus. Don't know what it means though, and i don't care
effing amazing song.
i know every song doesn't have to be about him and carl or drugs but... the "long time since i've step outside to the morning sun" seems like a reawakening or feeling something again likes it's the first time...perhaps getting on with life.
For some reason it seems like most people can't grasp what the metaphor of "stepping outside" means, though it seems very obvious to me. Using drugs like heroin to medicate depression, anxiety etc. is similar to locking yourself up in your house or wherever, it dulls your emotions and disconnects you from reality. When he talks about stepping outside to the morning sun I imagine that he means he hasn't been able to enjoy normal life in so long because of the heroin abuse, maybe he is implying that there are parts of reality which are enjoyable, hence referring to...

Yeah meltorment nothing has to be about drugs etc. but sedative is meaning for a drug/drugs that make you calm.
oh, is that what a sedative does? wow, good thing you're hear to let everyone know shit that should definitely already fucking know. who the fuck doesn't know what a sedative is? jesus christ

I'd presume it was about falling in and out of addiction and the reliance on another person (need we name her...) to go beyond it.
I'd like it to be a bit more subtle, but it's a good tune with excellent vocals - what more could you really ask for?
i didn't realise how much i liked this until i heard it live.
I think it's about replacing one's faith in one thing for faith in another, faith in something more real.
i believe the stepping outside is either coming clean/cleanish after hazy months of binging or possibly being in the pentonville porbably the former as sedative is definately about heroin
