In The Lake

I kid of thought it was about some relationship gone horribly wrong where the narrator kills herself and the guy comes home to find her corpse floating in his lake

I think this song could be a reference to a Gothic poem by Edgar Allen Poe called the lake. After shalott is an allusion to the lady of shalott by Tennyson.

I think this song is about someone who was murdered by her lover, and then he threw her corpse in the lake to cover up the crime, so she haunts him. I don't know, just a thought.

EA once tried to drown herself in the lake behind her ex-boyfriend's house. That's what this song is about.

"In the lake You will find me" (To me it means that part of her still there , still remenber) ... "And from that lake I will remind you Of your promises broken Your cruel words spoken" (That part still because she can't forget , she wanna let him know the mess he made,how she feel) ... "Behind your house" (to me is about the that person ignore her , left her behind and that person did something that anyone knows) ... "My ocean is bluer than the heart you had to break" (Ocean represents all the bad things,suffer,pain,anguish.That is beyond the pain he made her feel) ... "My sea is deeper than your lake" (It means she is deeper , her feelings are deeper , she can truely feel.) (Also referring to the line before "ocean" her problems, demons , fears that can drown her and others) ... "How many bodies are buried beneath those rocks I told you there was one And now you know whose it is Mine, mine, mine" (That person killed her emotionally , her dreams , hopes , illusions.And there's only rests of what one day was)

Possibly about an ex-relationship to someone. Someone hurted her much, broke her heart, made her promises he couldn't keep, insulted her. She feels down but what he had done to her won't get her down forever, she tells him, that she's now stronger than he could ever think. Also I think this comparision with the lake means that what he had done to her may come back to him one day, kind of revenge for his sins. It will be buried, but not forgotten. He will be the loser, not her, because she gained strength through all oft it. She's got an ocean, he's got just a lake.
