Q&A
The Fields of Ius Lyrics
Solitude and I
On such lonesome seas
With our words for sails
And an endless breeze
That's always behind
And I cannot recall
Knowing what we'd find
Though I'd heard of land
I'd hoped that it's nice
Or, or better than this
But everything is so beautiful
And nothing hurts
I tell myself
But I am so lost
and so scared
and so anchorless
But I must carry on
Towards horizon's hinge
Through the waves like oars
So fragile, so thin
Oh, just like my own
And I cannot recall
Knowing what we'd find
Though we'd heard of love
We'd hoped that it's nice
Or, or better than this
But everything is so beautiful
And nothing hurts
I tell myself
But everything is so beautiful
And nothing hurts
I tell myself
But then, from the sea
Came a great many teeth
Is this land?
'Cause I'm scared
And so poorly prepared
I'm dying, then see
A door with my life to be
I'm more than a boy on a wave
Lost in both time and space
On such lonesome seas
With our words for sails
And an endless breeze
That's always behind
Knowing what we'd find
Though I'd heard of land
I'd hoped that it's nice
Or, or better than this
And nothing hurts
I tell myself
and so scared
and so anchorless
Towards horizon's hinge
Through the waves like oars
So fragile, so thin
Oh, just like my own
Knowing what we'd find
Though we'd heard of love
We'd hoped that it's nice
Or, or better than this
And nothing hurts
I tell myself
And nothing hurts
I tell myself
Came a great many teeth
Is this land?
And so poorly prepared
I'm dying, then see
A door with my life to be
Lost in both time and space

I hear "anchorless." And "through the waves like ghosts." I think the "Or whatever land" is "I'd have ?? land" like the "We'd have love" later on.
Also, "Came a name, and he..?"
"I'm dying, then see How always the ?? life to be
I'm more than a boy runaway Lost and found time has ?made?fade?"
That's the best I can do... he doesn't really sing words when he hits those high notes.
I was hesitant with the ghosts line because I had hoped it would shed a little more light on "so fragile, so thin / just like my own." I suppose he's referring to "horizon's hands" being just like his...but how is the horizon "fragile" and "thin"?
The "have land" line makes sense, thanks. It sounds like he's saying "oh" here, which doesn't match with the parallel line that later uses "though," but they're both essentially there just for meter, so I didn't think it was that important.
To be honest, the "name" line sounds like "Came an A manatee," but that makes zero sense. I just can't think of a verb that sounds like "tea" and doesn't end in s that would fit.
The "life to be" line sounds like "How dull with-a my life to be," which doesn't make sense. "How always" makes more sense, but I definitely hear a "d" sound somewhere in there.
That last line sounds spot on, thanks. I'm not sure how to punctuate it, though. Does "lost and found" modify "boy"? "Time"?
the vocals on this song are amazing, seems like he conjures Jeff Buckley for it, craziness.
i cannot recall knowing what we'd find though i'd heard of land
but i must carry on towards horizons hinge through the waves like oars
though we'd heard of love
but then from the sea came a great many -
"everything is so beautiful, and nothing hurts" that's a kurt vonnegut quote, if that explains anything
I'm more than a boy on a wave lost in both time and space
in slaughterhouse-five, vonnegut-as-the-narrator says they are children on the brink of adulthood, and the main character Billy is "unstuck in time" and he travels to another planet.
Thanks for the help. I think this is about as far as we can get.
At least, I think, we did better than whoever did the other set of lyrics for this song (try google).
He definitely says "ghosts" and not oars. In a poetic sense, I can see ghosts being described as fragile and thin... Also, if you haven't, check out the acoustic version of this brilliant song from "On A Carousel of Sound, We Go Round." You can catch some of the lyrics a lot more clearly. As far as the last section of the song "But then from the sea-----" that whole part, I really can't figure it out. You guys have done a great job with this, all of the other lyrics posted online are so off the mark it's ridiculous. I've been tempted to take an hour and just copy and paste these lyrics to all of the other pages. Thanks for taking the time to do it right!
