Your Weak Hands Lyrics

You held my hand
Led me to the water
You pushed me in
I went under
They were your firm hands
That made me falter
You held my hand
Led me to the altar
You wept for me
Lord, absolve her
They were your weak hands
That made me stronger
You held my hand
Led me homeward
I looked for you
You were nowhere
Holding tight my hand
Was my own

Well, "Your Weak Hands" is about that adaptation that you make in a relationship. I think it is about letting your feelings free and giving them to someone else who didn't exactly know what to do with them. That he led her to believe that everything was alright, and that she followed. She held on to his "weak hands" and now she doesnt recognize herself.

She is just basically talking about how he followed him while he led her on, but in the end he:

"Led me to the water You pushed me in I went under"

Basically a metaphor of death or disappearance...

I disagree with the above comment, I think this song is about her relationship with her father ("he led me to the alter"), as for the first verse it could very well be about a father teaching his daughter to swim for the first time, throwing her into the water but still holding on to her with his firm hands, as time passes, he grows weaker and she grows stronger because of him and in the end, when he's gone the memories of him and everything he taught her stay with her, thus she's holding her own hand rather than he holding her.

I'm not sure if this is right, just what I saw in the song.
