U guys are forgetting this part. The song is definitely about cheating, but also, there's the brilliant chorus. Theyre calling the cheater an alibi, like an excuse. And after she realizes hes an excuse, the failure of their relationship is on her because he probably wasnt worth her time anyway. Unfortunately, the failure is tucked away, meaning she probably has a weakness for crappy guys or making excuses. and the situation of catching the guy cheating has restored her faith in "these words", aka writing and making music. I think that def means it was such an experience that it inspired her to write and create. Just my opinion

I thought she was talking about how murderer's alibis never hold up (and in each different verse it sounds like she's plotting a different way to kill him) but she's hoping that maybe she can come up with a good alibi that could save her.

It sounds like it doesn't make sense at first, but maybe because I like watching all those shows like Forensic Files, Cold Case Files, Ncis, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, and anything relating to that kind of stuff, I know that it is very possible for people to think like that, slightly insane people, but still.

This song is about someone realising their boyfriend/girlfriend is cheating on them. I do know that it's about something Meg & Dia learned about when they were doing a photoshoot... in some country (I don't remeber which one), they torture people by sewing them into mattresses or something.
i think this song has a lot more meaning of what you guys think. im not sure what it could be about, but meg reads a lot of old english literature so maybe it has something to do with one of the books she reads.
I don't think so, this song so much more blunt than the others. It's stating that her boyfriend is cheating on her and she's going to get revenge on him. It's a truly malicious song, and when coupled with the soft and lazy tempo of the music, makes it more haunting.
