Heaven Lyrics

I look at you
And before my eyes it's true
The girl of my dreams
Is not quite what she seems

Open your door
Turn on the light
Show me some more
Tell me it's alright

[Refrão]
Heaven is inside you
Heaven when I ride you
Heaven do you want me
Is heaven just in my mind ?

I look at you
At everything you do
The words in your head
Still remain unsaid

Open you eyes
Inflatable girl
Lose the disguise
Release me from your spell

[Refrão] (x2)

This song isn't supposed to convey a romantic atmosphere. Personally, and i agree with FluidDelusions, that it's more of a chilly or eerie feel. This song isn't loving, the vocals send a depressing vibe, and i don't think there are any metaphors in this song. It's either about contemplated rape or having sex with a blow-up doll.

I don't find this a particularly romantic song (it really doesn't fit) but I really doubt it's just about some blow up doll or rape. This all seems simply about fucking. Or better yet losing yourself in something. Escaping even. To a better realm. To heaven perhaps. You can't just focus on lyrics you have to focus on tune and rhythm as well. The entire song is very dark, slow, smooth, and melodic. It's the kinda song that makes it easy to just loose yourself in lala land.

And with the lyrics if you really read it closely you can understand why it's definitely not about rape because he's definitely asking for consent in one lyric. On the other hand in the same stanza you have him giving you these very peeping tom vibes "turn on your light" and "open the door" (things that peeping toms and creepers find very convenient for their weird escapades.) So if it's not rape but it's definitely got dubious vibes what is it?

Well could it be a blow up doll (as many of us seem to believe) I mean the lyric "inflatable girl" would lead us to believe such right? That's the kind of term you'd use for a blow up doll yeah? But remember the person he's describing is definitely capable of conscious thought and probably not plastic (as I'm pretty sure a blow up doll is incapable of turning on lights or opening doors or in general showing anything besides being plastic.) Plus such a simple answer really doesn't fit this song.

So here we are: it's not romance, not rape, and not about a blow up doll. What the heck is this song about!?

Easy, it's indulgence. It's about losing yourself. It's about escaping. It's simply about sex. It's neither romantic nor dubious, simple or complex. It just is. And it makes sense doesn't it? The entire set up of the song makes you feel like you could lose yourself. Drugs, sex, food this song is perfect for those kinda things. That's what the song is about. Can you add a romantic vibe to it? Sure! Does that mean the song is romantic? Eh...nah sorry.

tl;dr The song isn't about romance, rape, or blow up dolls it's just about escapism or better yet sex.

It feels like the commentators haven't read the lyrics, honestly. In my opinion, if you take apart all the metaphors, all the meanings are clear. Monster I sing about sex, everyone understood that. But 'inflatable girl' is a comparison of a completely living person with an object of pleasure. This same person is called 'the girl of my dreams' in the lyrics, but 'the words in her head remain unsaid', that’s why she’s pictured as inanimate. The person singing doesn't seem to know her and doesn't really see her. Yet. But he wants to, this is sung about in the first verse. In general, the song is about mixed emotions: the man singing is in love with the girl, drowns in the pleasure of sex with her, this makes him see her differently and fall even more under her spell, even though he barely knows what kind of person she is. It seems dreamy, heavenly, beautiful and complex. I, personally, think the song is f-ing sexy and deep. Hope you understand it and like it even more now heh.

Alright, this is kinda weird but when I saw "Inflatable girl" I kinda got the notion that this song is referring to his having sex with a blow-up doll. I would really hope it's not , but if it is, that's really weird.

I heard this song on a Numb3rs episode. It was episode 21, season 5, and it was played during the first scene as a woman got murdered by a serial killer. I thought it was an incredibly chilling song, so I had to find it and discovered "I Monster".

That's how I found it too. Now I'm obsessed! "Chilling" is exactly the right word, and the way it's juxtaposed with the wholesome/oldies vibe is just beautiful.

I think I like the blow-up doll theory the most, just because of the hilarious implications... "Stop seducing me, blow-up doll!!! I have to go to work! No! Don't look at me like that! My boss is going to fire me, blow-up doll!" So, essentially: BLOW UP DOLL WAT R U DOING BLOW UP DOLL STAHP

I love this song soooooo much i just wish the lyrics weren't so sexual and more romantic and about attraction on a psychological level rather than just basically about sex :/

My Opinion

I agree with you xbubblegumgoespop the music and such seems romantic, then the lyrics... but I still love it.. I'll just imagine everything is meant in a romantic way ^_^

I don't see how it can't be a metaphore for a girl he's attracted to that seems very mysterious and closed up to him. When he calls her inflatable, it could mean that right now she is closed up and not using her full potential. But if she opens her mind to him, that she can more. She is not what she seems because she seems boring or standoffish. He want to open her up. Also the music in the backround really reminds me some music in Edward Scissorhands. When she is dancing in his the falling ice. It's beautiful song.
