Patricia The Stripper Lyrics

She works downtown in an unmarked bar,
Flyin' round poles she always gave me the fright of my life
I didn't mean to get involved it was the alcohol
Mixed with and empty feeling inside
Its such a bad idea to fall in love with a 'lady of the night'

Why didn't God give her two left feet
Then she couldn't run away from me!

Months go by and I'm alone in bed
While she's greasing up for when the businessmen and lawyers arrive
I've got to wear a beard a suit and tie
To get past the door if I want to see my girl tonight
I go to all this effort just to see my fair Patricia going home with some other guy

Why didn't God give her two left feet
Then she couldn't run away from me!
Why didn't God give her two left feet
then she couldn't run away from me!

She thinks I'm sad and that's alright
But she doesn't hate me so there's my little alibi
I can't, I can't leave, I can't I can't I can't
She's my coked-up botox girl

Patricia, Patricia
Oh Patricia the Stripper you are my sunshine
Oh Patricia the stripper come on home tonight
Oh Patricia the Stripper you are my sunshine
So why can't you come home with me tonight?

ok, i don't know why this song doesnt have more comments. it is easily one of the best songs on thier album.

in my opinion it is one of the best love songs ever. coz its not corny or cliche but gritty and desperate. as much as you hate to admit, thats how it really is

Yeah its my favourite on the album too :) I think its very cute, to admit to that sort of infatuation is quite pathetic and respectable at the same time if you know what I mean...

I think the wombats sing about all the crazy things we can go through as young adults of this generation, and a lad of 20 myself I can really appreciate a bit of fun reality in their lyrics. Really liking the wombats at the moment.

Love this song, very catchy but it's not corny, funny as well. Pretty obvious meanings- he's in love with a stripper but he can't have her so he goes mad with jealousy anfd desperation- seeing her with all the other guys and knowing that she doesn't give a toss about him.

The idea for this song was basically ripped from 'Catch 22' by Joseph Heller. In the book, a young pilot named Nately falls in love with a whore who doesn't love him back. He becomes obsesse with her, spending all of his money on her, but she gets bored of him, and refuses to sleep with him any more. Hence, Nately has to disguise himself to see her. So, to match this up with the lyrics: 1) Nately "falls in love with a lady of the night" 2) The whore always wants to "run away from [him]" 3) Nately has to "wear a beard, and a suit and tie" or disguise to hide his youthfulness, and see his whore. 4) He often sees his whore "going home with some other guy" Captain Black often buys Nately's whore to torment him 5)The whore thinks Nately "is sad"

I'm not criticising the Wombats for using this idea just pointing outthe similarities betwen my favourite song and favourite book. :D
