I've met someone that makes me feel seasick
Oh, what a skill to have, oh, what a skill to have
So, many skills that make her distinctive
But they're not mine to have, no, they're not mine

Whenever she looks I read the nearest paper
No, I don't care about the soaps
No, I don't care about the soaps
Though I'm acting like I'm in an EastEnders episode

If this is a rom-com
Kill the director
If this is a rom-com
Kill the director, please

Carrots help us see much better in the dark
Don't talk to girls, they'll break your heart
And this is my head and this is my spout
They work together, they can't figure anything out

So, with the angst of a teenage band
Here's another song about a gender I'll never understand
Here's another song about a gender I'll never understand

If this is a rom-com
Kill the director
If this is a rom-com
Kill the director

If this is a rom-com
Kill the director, please

This is no Bridget Jones
This is no Bridget, Bridget
This is no Bridget Jones
This is no Bridget, Bridget

This is no Bridget Jones
This is no Bridget, Bridget
This is no Bridget Jones
This is no Bridget, Bridget

This is no Bridget Jones
This is no Bridget, Bridget
This is no Bridget Jones
This is no Bridget, Bridget

This is no Bridget Jones
This is no Bridget, Bridget Jones

He obviously loves the girl, in a typical teenagery blundering way. Has no idea what to do about it. "heres another song about a gender I'll never understand. he doesn't know how girls think (do any of us) and how to continue this. Baisically if this was a film, well its shite, because as the "hero" he can't do anything about it and the plot can't carry on. So if a film doesnt work, you blame the director. As he feels a bit strongly about it, he wants to "kill the director" "no bridget jones" = no happy ending. This is my head, this is my spout" is a referance to his brain and his sex drive, spout referring to penis. Even working together, they "can't figure anything out" which is how much this is an enigma to him.

this song is absoloutly awesome i just dont get bored of it. i understand it all...almost. i get its all about how love isnt like happy endings and mushy movie scenes, it can be a pain and doesnt always turn out well. the only part i dont understand is about Carrots help us see much better in the dark whats the hell is that about? and is the head and spout not refering to the nursery rhyme...'im a little teapot short and spout heres my handle heres my spout'? lol?

I really love the wombats but especially this song. To me it's about being in love with someone who's a bit out of your league and you're too shy to admit to it. Regardless of the meaning, it's one of the best songs I've ever heard. The lyrics are really witty and clever and they really flow, Long Live The Wombats!!!!!!

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Cajun Girl
Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
