Can't Forget About You Lyrics
This song is very overlooked.. It's a very catchy tune to chill to... Reminds me of the old New York days when broadway was more popular then Hollywood, and when people used chariots instead of cars for transportation..so yeah.
Oh, and Nate King was a great singer
One of the best songs off his new album. When i first got my hands on it, i wasn't particularly enamored with it but their's so many tracks on their that will become classics.
Peace
Nasty Nas (or N as he refers to himself now) reflects on his two musical "parents": Queensbridge and hip-hop. He's indebted and committed to the two, and this song is a way for him to give back and proclaim his love to the communities.
The well-placed addition of the Nat King Cole sample at the end shows Nas graciously acknowledging his own accomplishments in hip-hop. Nas will always remember hip-hop... and hip-hop will always remember Nas (Illmatic made sure of that).
could it be "these streets hold my deep disdain"? and the singing chorus be an ironic ballad about where grew up?
edit: i meant to say, the chorus was about the current state of what the "streets" are
This song gives me chills. It's sublime.
Nas really tells it as it is. This track however is a bit too similar to his first single hip hop is dead
just one thing that gets me .. he's like "the past, the past, enough of it aight then" and then goes on to reminisce some more.
anyway, i'm not very knowledgeable on rap so I don't know most of what he's talking about but sounds very nostalgic. i could very easily cry to this if I had been there for all that. i like the sample at the end too.
