This Killer Lyrics
Don't leave the door ajar and walk away
Don't leave me in the dark
You think you know me well
It makes me laugh
'Cause I don't know myself
This killer on the run
He steals from me the sun
He'll catch me off my guard
He likes me when I'm down and when I'm sad
Falling man
Falling man
It's always me alone that hears the noise
'Cause it's my inner voice
So stay inside your home and hide away
Before I lose control
This killer on the run
He steals from me the sun
He'll catch me off my guard
He likes me when I'm down and when I'm sad
Falling man
Falling man
This killer on the run
He steals from me the sun
And I can say I know him well
And so can he because it's me
He is me
He is me
Don't leave me in the dark
You think you know me well
It makes me laugh
'Cause I don't know myself
He steals from me the sun
He'll catch me off my guard
He likes me when I'm down and when I'm sad
Falling man
'Cause it's my inner voice
So stay inside your home and hide away
Before I lose control
He steals from me the sun
He'll catch me off my guard
He likes me when I'm down and when I'm sad
Falling man
He steals from me the sun
And I can say I know him well
And so can he because it's me
He is me

This song, for me, is definitely about depression. "This killer on the run / He steals from me the sun/ He'll catch me off my guard / He likes me when I'm down And when I'm sad..." These lyrics describe how depression will suck the enjoyment out of life, and how it can strike anyone especially when they are emotionally vulnerable.
Good song.
"A fallen man" - not "falling down". Great song, anyway
Where can I find this and other songs that aren't in the "Blackfield" album?
You can find them on the new album, ofcourse! Two months ago they released 'Blakfield II'. ;-)
I'm sorry, I forgot the 'c' in Blackfield.
Anyone notice how this song's intro is in 7/4 timing? I guess Wilson couldn't keep his prog tendencies away from Blackfield =P
"He steals from me a song" is supposed to be "He steals from me the sun". :)
One of my favourite Blackfield songs!
Guessing it's about Depression or bad self esteem..
For some odd reason this song reminds me of the notorious BTK case. The killer now realizes he is "the monster". A horribly beautiful song. And terrifying as well.
good comments. depression indeed. thank you guys for listening to blackfield, we are a small breed.
To me it doesn't sound like it's about an actual killer. It sounds like mania. I am currently dating a very bright man I believe has bipolar (but who takes medication), and I was once friends with someone also very bright who has bipolar (non-medicated). The song talks about the "inner voice" and stealing from him the sun. The darkness is an emotional darkness. The lyrics indicate that he laughs whenever he believes someone thinks s/he has him all figured out since he doesn't even know himself, especially when under the effects of mania. Interesting song. A fascinating disorder, but scary at times for the person and for those who love him/her.
