Elisabeth Lyrics
So I saw you sneaking through the back door
Heartfelt and I knew you needed something
To hold you over till your ship came in
Bull’s eye now I think it’s something deeper
He paid only just to keep her
Shut up for another day
So cool and confident
For what it’s worth what makes sense
Are you finally where you need to be
And finally all that’s left is broken hearts and shattered glass
Will you find the place you need to be
So is it even worth the trouble
To break the rope and face the struggle
Of just another day alone
And I saw you sneaking through the back door
You cried out, but everyone ignored you
Inside your prison cell alone
So cool and confident
For what it’s worth what makes sense
Are you finally where you need to be
And finally all that’s left is broken hearts and shattered glass
Will you find the place you need to be
You said let’s talk about it
You said it sure would mean a lot
But talking requires that you listen
You never listen.
Heartfelt and I knew you needed something
To hold you over till your ship came in
Bull’s eye now I think it’s something deeper
He paid only just to keep her
Shut up for another day
For what it’s worth what makes sense
Are you finally where you need to be
And finally all that’s left is broken hearts and shattered glass
Will you find the place you need to be
To break the rope and face the struggle
Of just another day alone
And I saw you sneaking through the back door
You cried out, but everyone ignored you
Inside your prison cell alone
For what it’s worth what makes sense
Are you finally where you need to be
And finally all that’s left is broken hearts and shattered glass
Will you find the place you need to be
You said it sure would mean a lot
But talking requires that you listen
You never listen.

Goshhh this chorus rocks. I like how it starts and ends with the piano. And the a cappella singing at the end. Anyway. Maybe about a girl who was "cool and confident" in a relationship she was having with a guy until he finally revealed to her that it was all just lies, like in the lines "He paid only just to keep her Shut up for another day". He didn't really treat her well, but she loved him so much she didn't really care how he treated her, as long as he kept her. Then when they finally broke it off, "all that's left is broken hearts and shattered glass". And she's really upset, as sung in the lines "Close your eyes, pretend this isn't happening", as she is just trying to wish it all away. But the singer/narrator wants her to know that although it hurts, "it's worth what makes sense Are you finally where you need to be" and "Will you find the place you need to be" AKA without this guy who never really loved her anyway. And then maybe she's finally coming around and the narrator tells her (at the end of the song) that if she had just "listened" to this guy she was with, she would have realized it was never meant to be. It's kind of an exhausted interpretation, but I think it's pretty accurate...
I think this song is about a girl who's having a hard time finding the right guy and he's right in front of her just singing this song for her. Like he's been waiting for a really long time and watched as she got her heart broken countless of times and even when she wants to talk about her feelings for him she ends up losing focus because maybe she's just really messed up inside? But the guy still loves her and waits. Anyway that's just my take on this song.
I think it could be about a girl in an abusive relationship, and another man thats kinda telling the story wants her, and has to watch her keep getting hurt. theyre friends but she doesn't really get the point that he likes her, because they talk but she 'never listens.'
maybe. :]
this song is about Jeremiah's sisters who were sexually abused by their grandfather. It's so sad :[ myspace.com/theelisabethproject
I thought it was about abuse of some sort.
It is about his sister's sexually abused by their grandfather. Real sad, but great song
Technically, this is the older version of the song. Or is it the newer...? I dunno, but I like the other one better, so here are the lyrics to Elisabeth on the album Hallways:
So I saw you sneaking through the back door Heartfelt and I knew you needed something To hold you over 'til your ship came in Bull's-eye now I think it-s something deeper He paid only just to keep her Shut up with a handshake and a grin
So cool and confident For what it's worth and what makes sense Are you finally where you need to be, woah And finally all that's left is broken hearts and shattered glass Will you find the place you need to be, woah
So is it even worth the trouble To break the rope and face the struggle Of just another day alone So I saw you sneaking through the back door Cried out, but everyone ignored you Inside your prison cell alone
So cool and confident For what it's worth and what makes sense Are you finally where you need to be, woah And finally all that's left is broken hearts and shattered glass Will you find the place you need to be, woah
Close your eyes Pretend this isn't happening Close your eyes Pretend this isn't happening Close your eyes Pretend this isn't happening Close your eyes Pretend this isn't happening Close your eyes Pretend this isn't happening Close your eyes Pretend this isn't happening
So cool and confident For what it's worth and what makes sense Are you finally where you need to be, woah And finally all that's left is broken hearts and shattered glass Will you find the place you need to be, woah
And all I want you to know Is that you'll be fine in this And all I want you to know
You said let's talk about it You said it sure would mean a lot To talk it requires that you listen You said let's talk about it You said it sure would mean a lot To talk it requires that you listen You never listen
