Just Like I Am Lyrics
Her beauty is blinding but she means nothing wrong
She's looking for love just like I am
Amazing in the sunlight, a gift for a man
She's looking for love just like I am
Just like I am, like I am, just like I am, I am
Hey hey
All the best intentions are no match for your skin
Hey hey
Well how am I supposed to love you if I don't even know you
She walks in the shadow of a beauty so bright
But she's looking for love just like I am
An obvious blessing but a curse in disguise when you're looking for love
Just like I am like I am just like I am I am
Hey hey
All my best intentions are no match for your skin
Hey hey
You know I thought I knew what love was but sometimes I get confused
Sometimes I get confused yeah, sometimes I get confused yeah
Hey hey
All my best intentions are no match for your skin
Hey hey
And how am I supposed to know you if I can't even love you
Hey hey
Hey hey
Hey hey
She's looking for love just like I am
Amazing in the sunlight, a gift for a man
She's looking for love just like I am
All the best intentions are no match for your skin
Hey hey
Well how am I supposed to love you if I don't even know you
But she's looking for love just like I am
An obvious blessing but a curse in disguise when you're looking for love
All my best intentions are no match for your skin
Hey hey
You know I thought I knew what love was but sometimes I get confused
Sometimes I get confused yeah, sometimes I get confused yeah
All my best intentions are no match for your skin
Hey hey
And how am I supposed to know you if I can't even love you
Hey hey

The girl is looking for love, obviously, and he wants to love her so that both of their 'wishes' can come true. But she's shy, and it's so hard for him to get to know her that it feels like a curse trying to figure her out.
I took this as two people who are obviously looking for love. The woman is beautiful and at times that beauty can be so distracting and overwhelming. He describes the beauty as "an obvious blessing but a curse in disguise." At times people can't see past her beauty to the person that is inside and I feel that guy has trouble getting past all of that as well. That is demonstrated in the line, "all my best intentions are no match for your skin."
I think it's about a guy and a girl both looking for love, but no one can see the beauty on the inside, only the outside. One of my favorites from LP.
In my opinion, he feels as though he's not worthy, despite having similar wishes.
