Well you're the closest thing, I have, to bring up in a conversation
About love that didn't last, but I could never call you mine
Cause I could never call myself yours, and if we were really meant to be
Well then we'd justify destiny, it's not that our love died it just never really bloomed

No I can't let go, no I can't let go of you
You're holding me back without even trying to
I can't let go, I can't move on from the past
Without lifting a finger you're holding me back

And then we saw our past, diverge, and I guess I felt okay about it
Until you got with another man, and then I couldn't understand
Why it bothered me so, no we didn't die we just never had a chance to grow.

I can't let go, no I can't let go of you
You're holding me back without even trying to
I can't let go, I can't move on from the past
Without lifting a finger you're holding me back

And it might not make sense
To you or any of my friends
But somehow still you affect the things I do
And you can't lose what you never had
I don't understand why I feel sad
Every time I see you out with someone new

I can't let go, no I can't let go no I can't let go of you
I can't let go, no I can't let go of you
You're holding me back without even trying to
I can't let go, I can't move on from the past
Without lifting a finger you're holding me back

I can't let go, no I can't let go of you
You're holding me back without even trying to
I can't let go, I can't move on from the past
Ooooooh

I think this song is about two people who were very close friends. And even though they were perfect for one another, they never tried to be together for the sake of their friendship. They had strong feelings for eachother and that's obvious because he can't let go of her after trying his best to do so. Most likely their feelings about the situation are the same and because this is about a love that never had a chance to grow, then in time it will. When she realizes how deep his love was for her in the first place compared to everyone else she had tried to be with.

It hurts relating to this song.

    Like so many others I realize this song captures a time in my own life - now I don't feel so stupid about it ^^;

So he's totally in love with this girl (a really close friend maybe?), who he never revealed his true feelings for, but felt that she might have felt the same feelings once. She's with someone else now, and he thought he was okay until with it, until he actually saw them together - which makes him go crazy emotionally. He doesn't understand why he feels the way that he does because they never were together 'like that' before anyway. Still, he can't help it and can't let her go. Sweet, really :)

Wow. These lyrics eerily are almost exactly like what I went through earlier this year, mostly the first stanza part, though... now I want to hear the song...

easy.the lyrics explain it in such a way that if you have ever been through anything like it you understand immeditly but always are as confussed as him of why it brings so much emotion.

This is about a journy of two people who love each other but a deeper relationship never bloomed be it bad timing, not wanting to ruin a friendship, distance or lack of maturity.

They may have a pre-arranged agreement to bloom if they are single at a future age. If the arrangment is fullfiled they are destined to be together.

What ever it may be they are connected and will continue to be connected in some form and now only time will tell.

I agree with lookingforprofound about the meaning. He's still in love with a girl and can't let go of her. He's right, it might not make sense, but it's funny how he makes it sound like it does.

Their relationship never ended, but it never started.

Beautiful. I relate to this so much. Simple explanation really. No need for interpretation.

For every year of a relationship, it takes me about seven to let them go.

This is exactly what I am going through. I was a rebound to a girl whom I was friends with. It started off fairly casual but then feelings started to come out. My feelings for her were so much stronger, and she decided we should not be in a relationship but be friends. My feelings never faded and she wanted to date other people. So now I hold on to a love I thought was there but it never really bloomed into what I had hoped. Now she is dating others and it's tearing me apart and she probably has no idea how much it is hurting me and how much she can do to me without even trying.

i think this song pretty much defines my lovelife. Here's how i see it, he started hooking up with this one girl and he didn't really think much of it. They never officially started going up, they just screwed around. Well, when it comes to friends with benefits, you're not really supposed to be having feelings for the other person, it's meant to be casual. So he starts getting feelings for her, but there's nothing coming from her side and she's already moved on to the next victim.

yea this song means a lot to me now, the lyrics are like everywhere around me now in my away messages and my notebooks.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.
