In my opinion this songs shows the emotion after a depression. "Try a little harder see the other side" its an expression of how you feel, because you always see the dark side of life. "Too many sleepless nights", also an fact, if you are in a depression. All in all, for me it seems to handle this theme.
This song is about finding your life's purpose, it could be realizing what you want to be or finding God.
