Never Quite Discussed Lyrics
you're the closest thing i know
to love so let me in
the moon is glowing white
and time's a-wasting
and don't you want to know
what happens when
we start at the start
before it becomes that thing
that broke my heart in two
we've been here before
that place where we dwell until
we find we both want something more
so let's pretend that for a moment
we have never loved before
touch my skin
and i will kiss your lips and
we can both ignore
that feeling of wait,
what happens in time
i know this is cool for now
but i just might change my mind
and leave
you there in the dust
i know that you loved me a lot
but it was never quite discussed
to love so let me in
the moon is glowing white
and time's a-wasting
and don't you want to know
what happens when
we start at the start
before it becomes that thing
that broke my heart in two
we've been here before
that place where we dwell until
we find we both want something more
we have never loved before
touch my skin
and i will kiss your lips and
we can both ignore
that feeling of wait,
what happens in time
i know this is cool for now
but i just might change my mind
and leave
you there in the dust
i know that you loved me a lot
but it was never quite discussed

I think this song is about her being in love with her friend. She's gone to him for consolation over a breakup or something, and finally acknowledging their feelings for eachother.
in my opinion it's the opposite- not a new relationship but one that is starting to die out. as the unnamed guy is the "closest thing [she] know[s] to love", she sticks with him, but still, "time's a-wasting", and she's wondering if it might be better to leave him now when they both are in a b;ah mood about the relationship than later, when she could have a broken heart. meanwhile, they never discussed this tension, thus the name of the song. it's sort of a warning that she may just leave, because the relationship lost it's special je-ne-sais-quoi.
*sorry that should say blah, not b;ah
I agree with Noobixcube, she's taken her friendship with a friend to the next level and shes afraid that she'll ruin their friendship and shes confused because they havent talked it through, just sortof started a new level of closeness. thats my opinion anyway.
I echo the sentiments of kawithakay... It's sang sadly, as something has gone wrong in the relationship and despite the fact that he loved her a lot, he never had the courage to stand up and say it. He never fought for the relationship. "..before it became that thing that broke my heart in two"...
This is song is clearly one that is sung with a broken heart. She isn't reaching out to be closer with her friend because it obvious that they have "loved before". The relationship ended because "they both want something more". It is obvious in the tone and lyrical message that she loves him and he loves her but it was "never quite discussed" and in this moment she is reaching out for one last chance. She doesn't want to talk about the complications of there past but instead just have the oppurtunity to "start at the start" and they can do this by NOT discussing and simply "touching my skin, and kissing your lips" and maybe the outcome of this vulnerable comand will alter into a repeating theme of trying things continuoulsy until they fall apart again and again and again. It is a very common theme in relationships and something a lot of people can realte to.
