Love, You're a Whore Lyrics

Was a bright and sweet and hot summer day
The day I didn't love you anymore
Some little kid wound up my poor heart, which had stopped
As I walked to the grocery store

All the people they knew although I didn't know
And they smiled at me as I passed
Cuz they'd been there before
And they'd come back again
And was going right back for more

Love, love, love
You're a whore
You're a whore
You're a whore
Love, love, love, love
'Cause we beat you and mistreat you
But time after time
You take us back
And kiss us hard on the mouth
Oh, kiss us hard on the mouth
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Kiss us hard on the mouth
Oh-oh-oh
Kiss us hard on the mouth
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Kiss us hard
Hard on the mouth

Was a bright and sweet and hot summer day
The day I didn't love you anymore
Couldn't see your face
Couldn't taste your taste
Couldn't hallucinate your embrace
Oh, you vanished without a trace

Love, love, love
You're a whore
You're a whore
You're a whore
Love, love, love, love
'Cause we bruise you and abuse you
But time after time
You take us back
And kiss us hard on the mouth

Oh, kiss us hard on the mouth
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Kiss us hard on the mouth
Oh-oh-oh
Kiss us hard on the mouth
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Kiss us hard, hard on the mouth

Was a bright and sweet and hot summer day
The day I didn't love you anymore
Some little kid wound up my poor heart, which had stopped
As I walked to the grocery store

All the people they knew although I didn't know
And they smiled at me as I passed
Cuz they'd been there before
And they'd come back again
And was going right back for more

Love, love, love
You're a whore
You're a whore
You're a whore
Love, love, love, love
'Cause we cheat you and mistreat you
And beat you and bruise you
And use you and abuse you
And cruise you and lose you

But time after time
You take us back into your bed
And kiss us hard, hard on the mouth
Oh kiss us hard, hard on the mouth
Oh kiss us hard, hard, hard, hard, hard on the mouth

Kiss us hard on the mouth
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Kiss us hard on the mouth
Oh-oh-oh
Kiss us hard on the mouth
Yeah, yeah, yeah

Kiss us hard
Hard
On the mouth

Actually:

“Was a bright, and sweet, and hot summer day The day I didn't love you anymore Some little cue wound up my poor heart which had stopped As I walked to the grocery store

All the people lingered although they didn't know And they smiled at me as I passed 'Cause they've been there before And they've come back again And they always go right back for more

Love, love, love You're a whore You're a whore You're a whore Love, love, love, love 'Cause we beat you and mistreat you But time after time You take us back And kiss us hard on the mouth

Oh, kiss us hard on the mouth Yeah, yeah, yeah Kiss us hard on the mouth Who-oh-ore Kiss us hard on the mouth Yeah, yeah, yeah Kiss us hard Hard on the mouth

Was a bright, and sweet, and hot summer day The day I didn't love you anymore Couldn't see your face Couldn't taste your taste Couldn't hallucinate your embrace All had vanished without a trace

Love, love, love You're a whore You're a whore You're a whore Love, love, love, love 'Cause we bruise you and abuse you But time after time You take us back And kiss us hard on the mouth

Oh, kiss us hard on the mouth Yeah, yeah, yeah Kiss us hard on the mouth Who-oh-ore Kiss us hard on the mouth Yeah, yeah, yeah Kiss us hard, hard on the mouth

Was a bright and sweet and hot summer day The day I didn't love you anymore Some little cue wound up my poor heart which had stopped As I walked to the grocery store

All the people lingered although they didn't know And they smiled at me as I passed 'Cause they've been there before And they've come back again And they always run right back for more

Love, love, love You're a whore You're a whore You're a whore Love, love, love, love 'Cause we cheat you and mistreat you And beat you and bruise you And use you and abuse you And cruise you and lose you But time after time You take us back into your bed and Kiss us Harder Hard on the mouth Kiss us harder Harder Hard on the mouth Kiss us hard, ha, hard, ha, harder on the mouth

Kiss us hard on the mouth Yeah, yeah, yeah Kiss us hard on the mouth Who-oh-ore Kiss us hard on the mouth Yeah, yeah, yeah

Kiss us hard Hard On the mouth”

Considering these lyrics, which, at least for me, add a little clarity, the song personifies love as a whore—beaten, mistreated, taken for granted, passed around, but, ultimately, ever forgiving and welcoming.

Regina brilliantly depicts becoming jaded to the point of un-love and, by describing not being in love, is able to invoke the notion that people in general have a very masochistic approach to love: what most everyone works so hard to obtain, becomes boring and confining after it is achieved and comfortable. So love turns into a vicious cycle of falling in and falling out—when we have it, we take it for granted; and when we don’t have it, we go to extreme lengths to get it. Despite this, love never seems to run out. It’s always there, willing to take the abuse, kissing us harder every time.

@margotj Thank you so much for the correct lyrics!!! Reading such absurd lyrics above got me really pissed.

@margotj I know I'm eight years late to the party, but after listening to this song on repeat I'm pretty sure the lyric is:

Was a bright, and sweet, and hot summer day The day I didn't love you anymore Some little KEY wound up my poor heart which had stopped As I walked to the grocery store"

Thanks for posting the far-more-correct lyrics than the ones posted above! I still think she's saying something different on "All the people lingered" but I can't make out what it is...

I don't think it's about a 'whore' at all, just about a girl who is in love with a guy who treats her like dirt. Although she sometimes thinks she is over him and can start moving on, she is actually weak on the inside and the second he calls her she is right back by his side where she started. He may physically and verbally abuse her, but this doesn't stop her from wanting and needing him, something which you see a lot of in relationships. She isn't a whore, that's just his perception of her because he can do what he likes and still get her to cater to his sexual needs.

I hope she records a studio version. Or at least plays it at a concert someone actually decides to tape properly!

There is a good version on Live In London.

This is a link to a clearer version. :)

I think this is about a prostitute. Do I really have to interpret the lines? Because I think they're pretty obvious. :P

Hmm, instead of "that Daddy loved a little more," I hear "the day I didn't love you anymore." Which really changes the meaning, doesn't it? Still, "that Daddy..." sounds possible too. I wonder which it really is.
