B.P.D. Lyrics

You're makin' a mess
Somethin' I can't fix
This time you're on your own

I'd make it alright
But I wouldn't get it right
I'm leavin' it alone

For cryin' outloud
Cryin' outloud
Cryin' out
You're cryin' out

Yeah

You're makin' a mess
Is that what you do best?
Is madness just a hand-me-down?

It's anyone's guess
But I must confess
The performance isn't that profound

Yeah

I'm waiting for the end
Waiting to begin again

You're makin' a mess
Somethin' you can't hide
A slow suicide
Just one bite at a time

I should love you less
But I can't I guess
Only God can save us now

Cryin' out

Yeah

@periwinckle000 thanks for sharing. I’ve listened to this album for decades. I finally made a connection and you saw it too! I guess there is no way of knowing But if it is true, for such an old song—they NAILED IT. There is a ton more research on the subject now but THIS IS part of what it is to love someone with B.PD. Up close and personal looks like sometimes. What a blessing the Band is to me.

I vaguely remember something about Karin saying something in regards to this being about an abusive marriage (not her marriage btw, lol). or was that another song?

Then again, by saying that I am committing the intentional falicy, aren't I?

Edwartica, I know that OTR said that the song "She" is about an abusive relationship. That might be the one you are thinking of.

To me, this song is more about that person in your life that you are always pulling out of a mess. From the line, "Is madness just a handme down" it seems like it could be someone they are related to... The person is "crazy" for always getting in a bind, just like the one singing the song is "crazy" for continually bailing the other person out. The singer is saying, "I've helped you enough and now you need to help yourself!"

I forgot to add that in the end, the singer realizes that as much as she wants to stop bailing the other person out, she just can't. "Only God can save us now."
