This is about bronies. They communicate by stomping.

Aj baro foro sheura
Chavora chordena o graj(e)nde
Chavora chordena cheja

Muro ilo dukxala ma
For they could never never measure
Oj, romen, so te kerav
Po shveto me parno prodzhava
Muro ilo dukxala ma
And I will never hasavava
Aj yeah, so te kerav
The silver plane now will be landing
Only one day, only one time
Call your best friend let's take him with us

Aj so keres tu baro foro
Aj baro foro (jo?) roma
Po shveto me parno prodzhava

Aj pasho mange (mande?) da romengro

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve.
The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future.
Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere"
The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday".
I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version.
Great version of a great song,

This is a sequel to 2001's "Reckless Abandon", and features the band looking back on their clumsy youth fondly.

To answer all questions about the 'SONG OF ALL TIMES AND ALL NATIONS BARO FORO' (from Multi Kontra Culti album)... So let's get down into the creative lab once again and settle all confusion. Baro Foro is written in a very broken Rromanes, the gypsy language; the reason is, that's all I could afford at the time of writing it in 1999. Now my knowledge of it has increased, but at the beginning of GB, when I was actively researching my family history and Romany culture, it was more on the level of abstract expression of my longing and love for Romany culture. Even though I managed to actually write sensible verses in Rromanes, some of it is basically sung in some bird-like language, if you wish - that's why any translations of it you find in chatrooms are total bullshit, except for a few lines correctly translated by Romany kids. Since I didn't go into rock n' roll to ask anyone how to do my shit, I just did it in the most immediate way. And anyway, the idea was to write not a national anthem, but a song of all times and all nations, the kind of shit they put into Vijager for other civilizations to check out. Another inspirational key is the song 'Mercy Seat' by Nick Cave... it's an extremely long and obsessive song and it was my anthem through teenage years. I always thought that when I grow up I will write a song that's even better and even longer than that. Well, Baro Foro is definitely fucking longer!

Oh how are you, big town Oh big town, lads The boys will steal the horses The boys will steal the girl
The boys near Romani My heart pains me For they could never, never measure Oh Roma, what am I to do?
Around the white world I will travel My heart pains me And I will never lose Ay yeah, what am I to do?
The silver plane now will be leaving Only one day, only one time Call your best friend, let's take him with us Oh, what am I to do!

Anyone speak Ukrainian?
OMG, this is amazing when they play it live! In four years I've never been able to find the meaning of the lyrics, but it doesn't take away from how great the music is. With GB, louder is always better, and this is a great example. I can get lost in this song... maybe the foreign lyrics help to create the effect. Hm. Maybe I shouldn't get it translated. Our silver plane now will be leaving......
Totally agree. I saw them play the Academy in Glasgow and they were awesome. The blew the roof of the place with this song
The lyrics aren't in Ukrainian, they're in the Romani language. The title literally means big town or big city.
Baro Foro is absolutely one of my favourite GB songs live.
this song is epic
