Abbey Road Lyrics
running down abbey road
don't stop the ocean
i need to feel a tidal wave
so close
so close to the family way
to the family way
don't stop bringing her around
see how tough i can be
when you're making me smile sweetly
don't keep bringing her around
i need to see
see the changing of leaves
of the guard
of abbey town
as it's leaving
running down abbey road in no shoes
it's colder than bremuda
colder than my days in the sugar cane
and johnny man, be as quick as you can
i said johnny man, we know you like hailey mills
like those boys are singing still
"catch me if you can
oh, catch me if you can"
be my sugar cane
my...
running down abbey road
i know i thought we'd almost be in the family way
i guess not today
i guess not today
don't stop the ocean
i need to feel a tidal wave
so close
so close to the family way
to the family way
don't stop bringing her around
see how tough i can be
when you're making me smile sweetly
don't keep bringing her around
i need to see
see the changing of leaves
of the guard
of abbey town
as it's leaving
running down abbey road in no shoes
it's colder than bremuda
colder than my days in the sugar cane
and johnny man, be as quick as you can
i said johnny man, we know you like hailey mills
like those boys are singing still
"catch me if you can
oh, catch me if you can"
be my sugar cane

i can't believe no one has said something about this song. it's a great f-ing song. tori is such an amazing poet. i heard she wrote this song because there was a flat avaliable on the street, abbey road, but she didn't get it. this song has many references to the beatles. family way was a movie that paul mccartney composed music for in the 60s. hailey mills was an actress in the movie. johnny man is refering to lennon, in my opinion. just a great, great song... i would listen to it if you haven't heard it.
Wow, @birdcansing I've been listening to this song for years and I had no idea it was related to her getting a flat!
This song has always struck me as touching on the disintegration of a relationship...the loss of a family unit, the loss of the potential to build something wonderful with someone.
"..so close to a family way.."
"..see how tough I can be, when you're making me smile sweetly.."
Going through the motions, playing the game that everything's okay, when really, something is very stale.
"..I need to see the changing of the leaves, of the guard, of your guitar, as it's leaving.."
Pretty incredible song.
