The End of All Things Will Be Televised Lyrics

All we know will be folded. A day of clouds. Creation waits…

Get away blue collar instrument
Get away politicians and priests
Refined to consume
It will be laid down
On the necks of the pure
The proud and the damned

Your day will come
Turn the page, embrace your
Comforting company
The sun beats down on your
Comforting company
Everything is burning because

Tonight the south is on fire!
The south is on fire.

Creation waits in eager expectation. Anxious. Patient.
Heaven will pause.

Get away blue collar instrument
Get away politicians and priests
Refined to consume
It will be laid down
On the necks of the pure
The proud and the…
Comforting company
The sun beats down on your
Comforting company
Everything is burning from your
Comforting company
The sun beats down on your
Comforting company
The seas are boiling

Out comes the light
Awake and rehearse

Out comes the demons
I never saw you
Out comes the mercy
Shutting down hell
Bite down until it bleeds
Out comes the exit

All things complete
O infamous city, full of turmoil, I'm terrified at your collapse
The kings, they shudder with horror, their faces distorted with fear
Endless empires gently brushed away in the blink of an eye
All Creation, wilted.

Captain, the ship is sinking. Have mercy.

last line- Captain, the ship is sinking. Have mercy.

i think it is refering to God as the captain and the ship as the world. sounds like a prayer.

Here's the skinny on "tonight the south is on fire" it refers to Revalations 18 talks about The Great Babylon ( or the fallen, sinful city) verse 9 of chapter 18 speaks "And the kings of earth who have committed fornication and lived deliciously with her, shall bewail her, and lament for her, when they see the smoke of her burning, Standing afar off for the fear of her torment, saying, Alas, alas the great city Babylon, that mighty city! for in one hour thy judgment come.

Babylon is the south in a broad sense the end is near

This song is deffinitely about the end of days and inspired by the "angry God" portrayed in the books of the Old Testement.

All we know will be folded. A day of clouds. Creation waits

Get away blue collar instrument Get away politicians and priests Refined to consume It will be laid down On the necks of the pure The proud and the damned

  • Just as it says, a storms brewing and creation will come with the destruction of everything that is. Basically, you gotta deconstruct what is to build something new in its place.
  • "Get away so and so" - basically calling out all the people who influence organized religion for thier own personal gain and not the good of spreading the word (Refined to Consume)
  • "It will be laid down on the necks of the pure..." - Basically, the people who have cheated religion from thier followers will watch the wrath of God come down on thier followers first. Mind you, the book of revelation depicts an angry God basically unleashing hell to purify the world. So it sounds dark, cause it is based off a very dark and often overlooked book in the bible. Along with Ezekiel and a few others.

Your day will come Turn the page, embrace your Comforting company The sun beats down on your Comforting company Everything is burning because

Tonight the south is on fire! The south is on fire.

  • "Your day will come, turn the page, embrace your comforting company" - Pretty self explanitory. These people who have read and will witness this, basically give them a heads up. "turn the page" - ie, read on and you will know whats in store for you.
  • "tonight the south is on fire" - Seeing that Norma Jean is from Atlanta Ga, I'm guessing this is just in terms of the bible belt and how they all think they're living thier lives the way God intended. When in reality they're opressed and opressing other people with thier false beliefs and judgements. Probably my favorite line in the song!

Far and away the best song on Redeemer. The ending blows me out of the water (no pun intended) every time I hear it. As for its meaning, it sounds like its about judgment day.

@SurfinNoodles Definitely sounds like Judgment Day for sure.

I think the title talks about an event that is talked about in the book of revelation. I didn't get into revelation too much but I remember hearing something about it

This song is a constant "moshgasm" (you know what I mean if you've seen them perform it).

This song is about how all of creation is waiting for judgment day, when the things we value so highly will be wiped away.

"the seas are boiling". that is such an awesome thing to think about. how scary

I definitely think this song is about Judgment Day. One thing that's really cool about it though is that they worked some old testament scripture into this song.

O infamous city, full of turmoil, I'm terrified at your collapse The kings, they shudder with horror, their faces distorted with fear

Most of this is almost word for word from various parts of the Book of Ezekiel, if I'm not mistaken. "A day of clouds" is also referenced in Ezekiel. Really cool stuff. You can find bits of scripture in a lot of norma jean songs. "Memphis will be laid to waste" and "multitudes in the valley of decision" are song titles that were taken directly from the Bible. Great band. Great music. Great message.
