Baby we were young
We were young back then
Forever young
Going up back then
Baby we were young
We were young back then
Forever young
Going dumb back then
Stayed screwing up
When we're growing up
Back then life was easy
It's gotten kinda tuff
Can't seem to get enough
I still I ain't giving up
Maybe we can hit the spot
We found down by the park
Took our first walk
Having real talks
I hope life been good to you
I mean it from the heart
I pray you well off
We were real young
With an old soul
Someday i'll be back for you so baby hold on
Ain't no way to fabricate you a real one
I know that you will remember
You'll remember our symbol
Can't lie sometimes I do miss you
Baby we were young we were young back then
Forever young going up back then
Baby we were young we were young back then
Forever young going dumb back then
Young with a heavy heart
You never broke apart
Came with a lot of scars
I Never tried to cover
New spots we rediscover
We'd be there for each other
Creating memories right up under The kissing tree
We connected through energy
Far away but you feeling me
The pain was deep and killing me
Nothing you did offended me
You affected me lyrically
I affected you spiritually
Go to war for my love
That's why you always be my entity
Baby we were young we were young back then
Forever young going up back then
Baby we were young we were young back then
Forever young going dumb back then
Forever Young we were young Back then
We loaded up heading out into the wind
You're so far but I know we'll meet again
Stood up for us my very first best friend
Baby we were young we were young back then
Forever young going up back then
Baby we were young we were young back then
Forever young going dumb back then

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.
